I used Windows version of PatcherGUI. Add it as non-steam game and set it to run with Proton (i used last stable version) in settings. Do not open or hover any menu in PatcherGUI or it will stuck. Also the game should not have any hidden directories in path because PatcherGUI could not see them.
On steps 2 and 4 you need to rename files to sightlines.u and defaultsightlines.ini On step 3 double check that quotes in your line are the same as quotes above (or just copy and paste quotes from this file)
I’m having a hard time getting this kid to work. It shows up in the list of kids in my game, but it is grayed out and I cannot select it. I followed the readme to the best of my ability and just can’t seem to get this one working. Can someone help me out?
Heads-up that when I just installed 1.4 on a fresh EW Long War 1.0 installation, the provided hotkey option in 'defaultSightlines.ini' reads .Bindings=(Name"V", Command="marketing", alt=TRUE) it should be .Bindings=(Name="V", Command="marketing", alt=TRUE)which it also already is in the Readme
Confirm working with Longwar 1.1 Steam Enemy Within I break down the instruction for anyone having trouble installing
1. Apply the patch file "Sightlines_LW.txt" via either Long War Mod Manager (I chose this) or PatcherGUI
2. Copy the "Sightlines.u" (NOT THE Sightlines_EW or Sightlines_LW) to your XEW => XComGame => CookedPCConsole folder (\Steam\SteamApps\Common\XCom Enemy Within\XEW\XComGame\CookedPCConsole)
3. Find the file "DefaultMutatorLoader.ini" in your XEW => XComGame => Config folder. Add and Save the following line to the bottom:arrTacticalMutators="Sightlines.SightlineMutator"
4. Copy the "DefaultSightlines.ini" to your XEW => XComGame => Config folder (\Steam\SteamApps\Common\XCom Enemy Within\XEW\XComGame\CookedPCConsole)
5* Optional Testing- Open DefaultSightlines.ini in step 4 then change the SHOW_FRIENDLY_INDICATORS=true
Start a new game, If your characters have Green Circle surrounding them then that means it worked. Any enemies who are in shooting range of that character will show the same Green Circle around them.
For anyone else wondering if installation was correct or not: set SHOW_FRIENDLY_INDICATORS=true in DefaultSightlines.ini and start a new game, see if green circle around XCOM squad is on. If it's on, mod is installed correctly. If not, there's something wrong in the install. Also check the game log which is Launch.log file located in My Documents\My Games\xcom - enemy within\xcomgame\Logs folder and do a find for PersistentLevel.SightlineMutator_0. It should be there.
Installed mod according to the LW instructions, to a fresh install of my game, but nothing seems to happen. I see the additional pulsing effect with the seen aliens icons. But when I move curser (movement destination box), nothing changes. The number of seen alien icons doesn't ever change, and the number of them that pulse doesn't change either. I'm not 100% certain from the description and screenshots what the visual indicator of sight lines is supposed to be, if i'm being honest. But regardless, I can't seem to get any additional information about what aliens can be seen from different potential movement locations.
This is causing frame skipping on my pc whenever there are 6+ enemies on the map. I doubt it is my pc, as I can play say Witcher 3 with near ultra detail with no problem. Or is it my pc?
It is supposed to be a green circle around alien when you hover over random square, it has huge delay from default! I installed on EW tho, not sure. Thanks for mod BTW, I Am going to have a blast, this game without mods is soo baaaad, but with mods it is completely another thing!!!

which it also already is in the ReadmeWith this, the mod works flawlessly <3
