If i understand .ini and solider stats generation correctly, increasing minimum rookie mobility by 1 also decreases max mobility by 1 (since max = (2*mid) - min). Mid is 13. So, the change is from "11-15" to "12-14". I wonder if this is intentional?
If it is, do you also happen to know if mid value accepts non-integers? as in, would it be possible to set mid as 12.5 to have 12-15 rookie mobility range?
Just started to play this mod after I got to understand EW - then played a little of LW and struggled with it - hence the use of this mod. I have to say I like what this mod offers - it is still very challenging (I have twice had squad wipe-outs that I never had in the vanilla game) but gives a better chance of winning
Great mod man! I like Long War for the extended battles but the build times are ridiculous. Seeing as you've made this would you know how to decrease the times? Taking 1 day to build a sawn off is BS. Thanks
art of war is a great mod if you really love the RNG instead of skill determining the outcome of your 100+ hour game.
the low panic threshold is so colossally stupid i'm frankly baffled anyone thought it was a good idea.
the rest is probably fine but it's a significantly bigger overhaul than my mod. My design philosophy was "what's fun?" and "how can I minimize bullshit" rather than completely overhauling the entire system.
I'll give the author credit for the idea of changing difficulty into different game modes, which is actually pretty inspired all things considered. the rest... eh. It's more change for change's sake. I'll give the author credit for doing a lot of work but man the balance is really really off something fierce.
My mod is a rebalance. Use it if you want to play Long War with minimal BS. It'll still be difficult, but it's not stupidly so.
Art of War is it's own thing and isn't really comparable, and also has some colossally terrible design decisions. I haven't, and don't plan to play it but the Low Panic Threshold is so utterly anathema to good game design I'm not exactly hopeful about the rest of the changes. If you really wanna play an overhaul though, it's the mod for you.
Yeah, I just finished a play-through with a modded F3. It was a lot of fun and I found the battles to be challenging enough. Looking at the end game stats it says that I lost 89 soldiers along the way and dispatched 6210 aliens. I had the Gollop Chamber built for quite awhile before I finally launched the final battle and enjoyed a good dose of tactical combat. I had to let the aliens build a couple of extra bases so that I could take them out and gain the 120 or so meld for each base defeated. I usually had enough money (or earned what I needed soon enough),alloys and elireium and I finished with 3k+ weapon fragments. Meld was always in short supply which I believe was the intent of the games designers.
I have played other Long War modes of this nature and I have found the Mod. here to be my favorite of them. Thanks a lot for a fun few weeks of new game play. I guess I will start another game but I don't plan on getting too far into as Fallout 4 will be here this coming Tuesday!
Great Mod and thanks for taking the time to build and post it. Kudos.
