Introduces new OTAS ships inspired by their X3 counterparts but reimagined for use in X4. Artistic license has been taken as X3 and X4 are very different beasts and simply porting the ships over will not work.

The mod is to be used with VRO and functions as expansion to X4:RE. A vanilla version will be available in the future.

OTAS Shippack is meant to be used with X4:Reemergence, however, it is functional as standalone.


This is an ongoing mod project and like X4:RE it will be under active development moving forward. Within this mod we have only included the ships which are currently finished and the rest will be added when they are ready. OTAS is categorized as a new race and with the shippack their assets are given to the Argon Federation but no jobs are assigned so the AI will not use them at all.


The aesthetic/design of the new OTAS ships is built around the Tempest which itself is a X4 recreation of Cadius's Daedalus/Tempest. I understand that some people will be unhappy with the changes that are and will continue to be made regarding OTAS. But much like everything from X3 to X4 the old models simply do not work, do not fit, and are scaled completely differently. With this is mind we've designed each ship to keep the spirit and core concepts of the original models and translate them into the new style. Egosoft had to change how several factions looked and so do we. We're also taking the opportunity to reconfigure the structure of OTAS's ships to reduce redundancy/overlapping roles with their own unique concepts within each category so they standout even further.

Tempest Battleship --
Model ported from Cadius' X3 X-Tra Ship pack and heavily rebuilt to fit into X4, both scale and functionality-wise, including the modular component system. The ship's party trick is a trio of XL turrets - Firestorm Artillery which fire 2 slow, ballistic shells dealing massive damage over long range. While having lower firepower and durability than the Asgard, the versatility of the various turret sizes and overall mobility balance out their use cases.


Boreas Heavy Destroyer (Cruiser) --
A complete reimagination of the classic Boreas, keeping the tapered shape, antennae array at the front and large engine cluster, but matching the rest of the styling to the Tempest. The two ships are setting the trend for all future OTAS large ship designs. Balanced to be a competitor of the Syn while having less overall firepower but a more balanced loadout and better speed. It features a single L-weapon mount and uses the M/AM Mass Driver, a very fast and accurate railgun.

Astraeus Frigate --
Though it lacks any forward-firing main armament, the unconventional shape of the hull and ample turret hardpoints allow the Astraeus to maintain surperb fields of fire all around itself. As with other frigates - Astraeus' main tasks are patrol, picket duty and anti-fighter combat.

Aquilo Missile Frigate --
The first, original "M7M" class missile frigate in X-universe's lore. Modernized Aquilo honors its past by maintaining long range missile launchers loaded with dedicated Anemoi Heavy Torpedoes. The ship's sole purpose is long range bombardment of capital ships and stations (30km standoff range). Relatively poor mobility and defensive armaments necessitate employing Aquilos with sizeable escorts, however, typically for OTAS, the ship is protected by above-average shielding to aid it's survivability.

Eurus Fighter --
The standard fighter of OTAS. The ship boasts impressive mobility and mid-tier armaments but rather basic shielding to not be too OP. The ship introduces the new S highpower weapon; M/AM Barrage Accelerator, which can be used in any highpower slot for all factions. The visual style of the X3 Eurus was kept in mind, the broad wing concept with a strong central hull. Unfortunately, X4 S/M ships are very difficult to fully make and compromises need to be made when kitbashing the cockpit and we're very proud of the Eurus's reimagining.


Notus Bomber --
A sister ship to the Eurus based of the same hull and cockpit. Tankier & slower, focusing heavily on missile OR anti-capital weaponry. Due to the unpopularity of missiles, we have decided to give the Notus a unique anti-capital, burst-fire weapon firing exploding shells which do extra component damage. Their dispersion and speed make hitting anything fighter sized very difficult. While the original Notus was a heavy fighter, we've decided that OTAS did not require 2 for X4 and have change it into an S-Class Bomber. This role was previously filled by the Auster but we've decided to upscale that one. Something unique is that only the Xenon (VRO) have an S-sized bomber.


Solano Scout --
As Eurus already fills the fighter/interceptor role, Solano has been moved down a notch - it is aimed to be a one engine, one shield, two gun scout ship that can double as an interceptor in a pinch. As with other scouts, it will feature excellent straight line speed and extended radar range but average maneuvering thrusters. A very effective kit wrapped up in what is probably the smallest flyable ship in X4.
