Is Witcher 3 playable on dual core CPUs?The answer is yes! I just fired it up on my 8 yr old desktop: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+ 2.7 ghz, 4 GB RAM, AMD Radeon 6670 1 gb DDR5 PCI-E video card running Windows 8.1 64 bit. The resolution should be set to 1024x600 if your monitor supports it or 1152x648 like I have it set to. Use the APU optimization settings and it is indeed very playable. Do experiment with the settings til you are satisfied with the fps.

Specific to AMD GPU/APUs: You might want to go into their Catalyst control center and adjust tesselation and anisotropic filtering to override application settings and put it on 2x - 6x. Take it off AMD Optimized. The game runs better on Nvidia GPUs due to it's strange tessellation preference. I'm guessing it's got something to do with Gameworks.

I added the user setting .ini file that works for game version 1.21
I finally got my game updated at a friend's place.

Sorry, but I don't think so. My PC has been dead for a while now due to a broken power supply so I have been unable to test any new settings or access Witcher 3. I have a Chromebook for work purposes but that won't help here.

Hey so, I have a 2.5 GHz quad-core processor (A8-7410) with 8GB RAM and R5 graphics. Now ik this is for dual core, but would it do anything in the way of fps for me?

Well, I tried it and i'm still getting 10fps max. So I suppose not...

Yeah, the R5 is what is holding you back the most. Witcher 3 is quite shader dependant. The 256 shaders paired with a ULV CPU is just not enough to get playable fps. Sorry it took so long to respond back. Stick with 2013-2014 titles and games running unreal engine 3. That was the rule I followed on my A10 notebook.

Everytime I start up the game after putting in the user.settings file, the game says (not in exact words) new content detected, resetting user settings to default. And if there is a way to fix this, there a way to raise the texture settings to medium through the file?

That's strange.. Do you have all of the DLC installed and patch 1.6 ? It does not do this on my systems. I currently can't install 1.7 patch due to it's size. The texture settings can be changed through .ini or through Hunter's config. Just adjust the max texture size and max atlas texture size to 2048 under rendering.

Yeah, that's probably the issue.. so how is the 7.6 gig patch ? What did it add besides the storage areas ?Unsure if I'll ever be able to update to it.. I have 2 gig limit a month for downloads when I actually have a decent 4g signal.

It adds alternative movements for Geralt, which is a huge plus in terms of navigating through tight spaces. It also fixes the pop in issues. There's a lot of other changes that I can't remember on top of my head

If you haven't noticed already. I've updated the file to work with latest patch 1.21

You were right about the patch. It's pretty awesome!
