So I have a problem I can't install the mod when I run the installer it says "error file gameplay\reward\8reward.xml" because the reimporter cannot reimport files that are larger than the original any fix?
I don't know if I'm reviving this or not, but I really would like to use this mod if only it was compatible with 1.07+ patches. Sorry if I'm blind or something but I swear I've looked for this info all over and couldn't find it.
Besides that, Vorph version of this mod seems so - but SO - useful. I could never stand not getting xp from that gray Skellige quests just 'cause their level were lower than the Skellige quest itself. You know, because reasons. Could I use it? I mean, would it work with an existing 1.07 save file where these quests have already begun? (Please gods, say yes).
I cant really say that it worked, as of now, i dont receive any exp for any quest in my level range. Just killed the woodland spirirt at lvl 22, the quest is for lvl 22 players and i got NO exp from that. And that's not the only quest where i dont get anything.
If you receive literally 0 xp then that's a different bug, or the quest step simply was never intended to give xp in the first place (this is much more common than you might expect).
The bug this mod addresses is when you get 5 xp for quests that you should get full xp for, because the game treats them as 'grey' even when the journal says otherwise.
Fantastic fix, works like a charm. Its kinda odd that the developers didn't correct this glitch completely which was introduced with 1.04 and maybe before, strange.
Even, after patch 1.05 the wrong XP level values in the "rewards.xml" file where still present and the rewards itself are still buggy. My first step after patching to the latest version was, to check that up. Anyway, thanks Vorph and Skaad1727 for taking a hand on this, it made the game for me enjoyable and playable again.
This working without bug in version 01.05? I'm reading the comments here and only left me more confused .. it seems that is causing more problems or not?
I'm finding this too long to level up ... Some form of double the XP gained from monsters and quest?
This mod does work with 1.05, but only if you alter it's resources with files Vorph kindly made for us and referenced in comments below. Mod does not cause any problems, neither it gives double xp for any activities. It just fixes some quests so they give xp according to how game itself represents them in journal.
I've looked through the rewards.xml file pretty exhaustively since the patch today, and there aren't as many problems left as I thought. I made an updated version for myself that can be packed into the 1.05 patch.bundle and there were only a few changes I felt necessary:
Bloody Baron: 5 -> 6 (Suggested level and actual level don't match) Pyres of Novigrad: 7 -> 10 (Suggested level and actual level don't match) Now or Never: 11 -> 14 (Suggested level and actual level don't match) Following the Thread: 11 -> 16 (Skellige part only) King's Gambit: 16 -> 18 (Suggested level and actual level don't match) Every quest on Skellige: *Less than 16* -> 16 (Because it's stupid to go to Skellige and find grey quests that are lower level than Destination: Skellige.)
I don't claim to have found every single issue, but I think I got all the main quest and critical path ones. Side quests don't give much xp anyway. If anyone wants to use my changes until this mod is updated: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55725946/XPModNormal.7z
You will need to first download and extract this mod, then extract my file to the same directory. Then run the XPModNormal.bat file like normal. The uninstall batch file should work fine too.
I have a question. How exactly this "actual level" from resources works? I saw 2 versions: 1. it's maximum level on which you will get normal xp for quest. 2. it's actual suggested level, so you will get normal xp for quest being in +/- 5 levels range around it.
"Actual level" means the level listed in rewards.xml, which is the only level that the game cares about. The suggested level that you see in-game in your journal comes from another file entirely, quest_levels.csv.
Geralt can be up to 5 levels over the actual level and still get xp. The suggested level is just for display purposes and is not used for anything else. The problem arises when the two are not the same value in the files, and you end up with quests are really grey, but still appear to be green in your journal.
I've updated my file to fix a few more quests that didn't match suggested and actual level, as well as a few things on Skellige which I missed when setting everything to level 16 minimum. Installation is still the same.
I also recommend using the XP gain multiplier mod with quest xp set to 1.25 if you play on Death March, since they decided for some strange reason to cut DM xp gain by 20% in the patch. I want to be able to use mastercrafted witcher gear so that change has got to go. There's no way you'll hit level 31 with a 20% penalty unless you use an exploit.
(Apologies to Skaad1727 for hijacking your mod thread, btw. I didn't feel the site needed a third xp fix mod to make things even more confusing for people, so I didn't want to create my own. Feel free to use my changes as a time saver when you update, if you want.)
Don't know whether the XP gain multiplier still works as intended for 1.05:
"The game doesn't detect the decimal point for me since patch 1.05 . I had value '0.5' for quests and it worked fine before, now with 1.05 I only get 0xp. Tried filling in '2' in the multiplier and xp was indeed doubled. Value '2.5' didn't give me more xp than '2' did."
I haven't had time to actually play the game much since 1.05, but I loaded a couple savegames that were made just before the end of some quests and it works. A quest that is supposed to give 25xp gives 20xp on Death March unmodded, and is back to 25xp with the XP Multiplier addon set to 1.25.
My exp_mods.csv file looks like this:
Kills;Que 1;1.25
Kills give so little xp anyway that I didn't bother to change that.

All Questrewards (gold and XP) in my game are Zero now.

Edit: Yeah, it doesn't. Bummer.
Thank you all very much!

It installs fine using the original version of the game and up to 1.04 but after 1.05 i get this problem
