I cannot seem to be able to get this mod to work, any idea why? I see Buffy and the others in the Hero selection screen but a soon as I start a new Breakdown level with Buffy selected the game crashes.
Sorry I didn't notice this sooner... your mod works but is messing up with new characters... I mean "characters.win.bmd" and "characters.xml" files are making bugs... meaning you can't unlock new characters ingame and you can't select them when you start a new game... I don't know if it makes them not appearing ingame or what... the only way to partially solve it, is playing a moment, exit game and uninstall "characters.win.bmd" and "characters.xml" files. then you can play almost normally... your characters will retain all their skills and stuff, but modded ones will have their names bugged... I hope there isn't any other bad surprise...
Sorry if I monopolise the place BoogieLove... I just think if your're waiting on an update about extracting tools mods for SOD year one, I believe you can wait endlessly... cause it seems that moding tool Creator, like "smashly", are retired and there will be no more updating for it...
so I thought you may update anyway your mod as if it was for the original SOD Breakdown... and then if by any chance moding tools were updated... well, I believe its "not gonna happen..."

As a matter of fact, I got the files opened up right now, just looking for the character portrait locations to update them. Modding is possible! Already tweaked some names in the Breakdown file- modding is like it used to be, it's just figuring out the right avenues now that the file locations have been changed.
Just for information, your mod is working almost completly with "state of decay year one". the only small thing not working are the portrait of the characters. they remain the originals characters. I mean you can play Buffy and she will be in the game blond and white skinned, but the portrait will remain the Maya Torres one... quite funny. beside this, it's working perfectly! I rejoice myself for your next release! but one other demand please. if you're planning to add others Buffyverse characters, may I ask you not modding Becca or Alicia Hawke... cause they are my favorites, with Buffy of course! thanks in advance.
Thank you very much for the update! I was literally just coming here to post this, but am thankful a fan of the mod did already! You is rockstar! I figured this out the night YOSE released (literally installed it right after installing the game), but have gotten sidetracked with school finals, actually playing YOSE, and GTAV.
Now I'm just waiting for people to release extracting tools so I can update the portrait. I'm constantly checking the forums, thought! I plan on adding Dawn this time around, as well as Tara, Jenny Calender, Spike (and maybe Angel... never was an Angel fan, tho. But Buffy...). Thank you for asking to reserve certain characters- that helps me know what to work with to make it accessible! As soon as I can do the portraits and edit names/stats, I will YOSE this mod up! I tried the previous SoD tools to no availm so I gotta wait 'cos my modding skins ain't all that!

Sorry for the delay but better later than never... thanks for your answer and your consideration :-) you know first, I wanted to ask you for Faith, but I found I could mod Becca, changing her name, her stats... ok Becca isn't really Faith look-alike, but it does the stuff... but in fact yes, we can't let Buffy without her adorable sister...! again your work is very much appreciated. thanks a million!
Hey, thank you for the kind words, friend! I just, today, got done with this semester, so I plan on getting back to finishing this up. I'm glad you said Spike and not Angel! LoL! I was debating which one to do, and I fall more towards Spike, but I wasn't sure how people would feel. Stay tuned!
I also have a Story mode version working, so the next release should be better!
