Ok, was about to beat my head against a wall... I just got a seed maker, dropped it on my farm, and it started generating cauliflower immediately. I couldn't put anything else in it, and it just kept making more bloody cauliflower. Couldn't even remember installing this mod, but I figured it had to be a mod problem, so after no luck on google I jump onto nexus and search seed, sort by downloads, and see the downloaded tag on this right away.
Ok, pretty sure I found the culprit. Check the comments to see if anyone else is having similar issues... See that it works with Automate... I also forgot I installed automate. I've never used that mod's features. I put my shiney new Seed Maker right next to the box I've been keeping my veggies while they are waiting to be turned into pickles.
So I did find the problem... Pebkac... Kind of a lucky break given that people are saying it doesn't work as well on it's own, so now I just need to set out a box that's intended making seeds.
Seems like this mod does not work if you just have it by itself and insert the seeds manually, but if automate is installed, and you use a chest to insert the seeds it works great. It also prints [Better Quality, More Seeds] Adding more seeds by quality For every single process so 100 crops print that line 100 times in the console.
The test shows that if Auto mate is installed, the machine must be connected through the box to make this mod effective. Putting seeds into the machine manually has no effect. If you can, please correct it. Thank you very much~
Yep this mod is definitely not working right now - I just did some troubleshooting over in the Automate comments because that's where it showed up for me. I see there's already a bug open here; I'll add my experiences/info over there. For now I've removed this mod. It's an awesome idea though, thanks! I hope together we can get it working.

Just put a gold quality ancient fruit and 2 regular quality ancient fruits into a chest connected to 2 seed makers and I got back 3 ancient seeds. Shouldn't the range have been 4-10, making 3 impossible?

Since there's so many comments stating it doesn't work, I just want to say it isn't the case for everyone. The mod actually works perfectly fine for me, I started up a new save and spawned in some starfruit using "CJB Item Spawner" to test it with, before continuing my normal playthrough: On average I got 4.2 seeds from gold quality fruit, and 5 seeds from iridium quality. I tried with automate as well, and it works just fine. Tested it again on my existing save, still no issues.
