I believe there's a way to change the initial pet choice, however I personally do not know how. I suggest looking it up, and following the steps needed. There are also some great mods on here for dogs as well! Check 'em out
Okay so i know this is superold, but if anyone is still having problems with this, u can just name the file dog.xnb instead and it will work for anyone with dogs. Supercute mod, i love skitty *u*
