I'm confused why sebastian is now written as the disagreeable child who won't cooperate with demetrius just so the way demetrius acts, can be seen as less severe. I think both of them could use more work towards their relationship. his favoritism is blatant and there is no mention of sebastian at all in his vanilla lines, while maru is praised like a golden child, like his only child. Him leaving maru's snowman standing while sebastian's was taken down is indicative that sebastian is not the only one souring the relationship. With that kind of neglect and favoritism, i understand why sebastian feels unwelcome in the house and why he's not fond of demetrius at all.
Having the son he blatantly neglects made into the angry and antagonistic kid feels like a disservice to sebastian in favor of his stepdad. demetrius in this mod keeps wanting sebastian to be like maru, bemoaning their lack of common interests but won't put in the effort to know the son of the wife he claims to love so much. Or accept that they're two different people and look for ways to appreciate sebastian's hobbies. he's struggling to deal with his presence and even finds his son's hobbies disruptive when the guy already lives in their basement, barely talking to them out of feelings of isolation. He says he wants to know sebastian but when he has a hard time, wonders why his son can't be more like his biological kid. so how much does he really want to have a relationship with sebastian outside of him wanting it to be easy? Turning the neglectful father into the father having a hard time because his originally neglected and unfavored kid is now simply uncooperative and spiteful can't help me feeling like we missed something crucial with demetrius as a character.
I feel the same way and I think that Sebastian could be approached differently. I want to keep this mod because I really want to like Demetrius. He's one of the very few canonical characters of colour in Stardew Valley, and I love Robin, Sebastian, and Maru. I'd love to see them all have expanded characterisation, Sebastian and Demetrius working on their relationship, and all the awkwardness and potential pain and conflict that comes with it.

Is there any difference in content between the version 1.1 xnb mod and the 1.0 content patcher version? Is the CP an earlier version of the xnb mod or is it just the first version of the mod in a content patcher pack? Thank you for your time.
So far this mod has been really enjoyable. I actually enjoy talking to Demetrius now, and the "100% iced tea" joke was hilarious. Big thanks for making Demetrius more interesting of a person.
Hi Before I download this, I wanted to know what you mean when you say you removed the useless "technobabble". As a geography student, I enjoy hearing everything that Demetrius says about the rhizosphere! I hope that content remained? Thanks!
I did indeed remove the science talk from Demetrius, focusing more on his life and his pursuits in the sciences rather than random facts.
However, in this mod, he talks about his life as a scientist far more than he mentioned facts in the vanilla: if I remember, he only mentions them maybe a maximum of three times, but in my mod, he covers the ups and downs of discovery and his life thirty times or more.
I downloaded the perfect 10 version of this mod and installed it exactly as the instructions say to, but when I talk to Demetrius all he says is 'Hi'. I double-checked that I installed it in the right folder and I can't think of what else the problem could be?
It means you're in year two. Recently I've found out the issue. Unfortunately due to how the game is coded up at the moment, the perfect 10 Version, for anyone past year two, doesn't load the dialogue.
In fact, any in game date dialogue, such as Spring_15, only loads on year one. I'm thinking on taking all of the perfect 10 editions down off Nexus until the issue is fixed, but I'm still not sure.
Sorry about that! I hope I can figure out a solution or it gets fixed soon.
