Same problem here. I get the 'Skipped Mods' notice about 1.2.1 not being compatible, then telling me this is updateable. But when I download it, it's still the old version.
Would like to be able to set my own loved/liked/hated items so I have a little control over what I get. I know that, personally, I'd rather get ores than furniture. :') Just a thought.
A nitpick, but my preferred day is Pierre's birthday, as that is kind of my birthdate in real life. If there was some way you could "nudge" a NPC's birthday to the day before/after the player's chosen date, that would be cool. I know I am likely dreaming.
To answer a few earlier questions in this thread, as far as I can tell, you don't receive gifts in the mail. You get gifts by talking to the NPCs on your birthday. They'll give you a random gift (not sure if there's a pool its supposed to draw from, or if it is literally random, but it will include additional crops like the Longevity ones). There is a stutter after you get it before you can move again. Birthdays seem static. Once you pick a date, that's your day.
My issue that I've found is that when trying to talk to NPCs, on occasion the game will freeze and crash. I'm not sure if its because the character was moving (this was the case 2/3 times). The final crash before I uninstalled was with the dwarf.
The birthday messages are sweet and character appropriate. Aside from the crashing, I enjoyed this. Thanks modder for it.
Do you need a certain heart level to get birthday wishes from people
just testing after getting the old version to not work, I had the option to pick a birthday, picked one slept a few days and had the mail with a pink cake in it but the few people I spoke to just had generic things to say to me.
Just want to know whether I need that friendship level or this mod isn't working as intended?
