LATEST NEWS - Aug 14, 2014

Hey everyone. It's been a while since I've updated this. Mostly it was because I got bored with Starbound itself and forgot about it, and this mod. I stopped following Starbound development for a few months.

A short time ago, my hard drive suffered a mechanical failure and I lost a lot of data, including the assets I'd been working on for this mod. I was dumb and did not have anything backed up. Fortunately, it's simple enough work and most of what I'd already completed was recoverable from this website anyway! I'm still a little mad at myself for learning that lesson the hard way, but now I've got a brand spankin' new hard drive that I mirror to a backup drive on a daily basis, and as an extra measure I'm also going to use Dropbox.

Having checked up on Starbound again, I'm feeling optimistic about all the progress they're making and I've got the urge to work on the mod
again. I may however wait until Chucklefish releases the next stable update, presumably with their progression overhaul, before I put out the next release of this mod. We'll see. In the meantime, I intend to keep cranking out more sprites.

Hang in there!

UPDATE: v0.1.3a

Just a quick fix. Updated the Vault Suit properly for Furious Koala, and edited the tesla cannon to fix a conflict with MMN Ammo Overhaul.

DESCRIPTION

A Post Nuclear Starbound is currently a weapon and clothing pack that introduces items from Fallout to the Starbound universe. I plan to expand it into much more, but at this point, here is what is currently included:

- Wattz 1000 laser pistol
- Wattz 1000 magneto-laser, dubbed the "Wattz 1000m"
- PPK12 gauss pistol
- YK32 pulse pistol
- Glock 86 plasma pistol
- .223 pistol
- AER9 laser rifle
- Winchester P94 plasma rifle (aka the "Plasma Caster")
- Winchester P94 "Turbo" variant
- Tesla cannon
- Alien Blaster

- Vault jumpsuit (shirt and leggings)

The guns are all unlocked at once, but they each require a crafting ingredient from the tier they are intended to be used in. Be warned: as far as I can tell, they're pretty strong for the tier they're scaled to and you may consider them slightly overpowered. The vault jumpsuit is unlocked immediately, but must be crafted at the yarn spinner with fabric. The weapons are not perfectly balanced in every aspect yet, but their damage is close to where I want it. Energy cost and rate of fire are still up in the air.

Also! If the crafting recipes aren't ideal or you just want to get the guns as soon as possible, there's an optional archive that has modified recipes to let you craft everything for a few pixels.

HOW TO ACQUIRE IN-GAME

Simply pick up a wooden crafting table, and the recipes will be unlocked. They do require substantial amounts of pixels and various other items to craft. Most of the items are crafted at the robotic crafting table, but others can/will be found at the metalworking station. The vault jumpsuit is made at the spinning wheel.

INSTALLATION

New installation: Just extract the archive into your mods folder. Easy as pie.

Updating: Unless I specify otherwise or you know exactly what you're doing, it would be best to completely uninstall (delete) the previous version from your mods folder and then just re-install the new version by extracting it back into your mods folder.

HOORAY: This mod should no longer conflict with anything currently, because config merging!

FUTURE PLANS & OTHER STUFF

Definitely planned:
- more Fallout weapons, and complete custom assets for every one (sounds, etc)
- some armor sets
- several big Vault designs that will spawn as dungeons, complete with unique enemies/NPCs
- re-balancing of items as necessary, including several significant changes to the crafting recipes as Vaults are implemented and unique Vault-Tec loot can be acquired within them, including randomly generated variants of those weapons

That's it for now. I work pretty slowly, so I might not update too often.
Also, don't distribute my things, ask permission, etc etc. You know how it is.

Stay gold.
