Well, most of the comments seem to be rather negative which is a shame because I actually really like this mod. In fairness, the dungeons are quite long for some of them and I can get some people not liking the amount of loot you get.
Personally though? I haven't had any issues with this mod and I've been using it for about a year now and across multiple characters. I think it's worth mentioning that if you like a challenging dungeon crawl then this is for you, the satchels of potions at little checkpoints throughout the dungeon are a nice touch to keep you topped up on supplies for the fights ahead and the end always has a worthwhile reward. Traps are actually used quite well in the dungeons and the inclusion of "monster closets" with food and such in them for whoever is hiding inside is a nice detail.
Sure, the dungeons can be tedious and totally not for everybody but coming from someone who liked the dungeons in Daggerfall, this mod is fantastic, permanently earned a spot in my load order.
Hello, Does anyone have the skill and motivation to create a patch to make this great mod and Oakwood work together? One of the cave entrances (Fist) happens to be right in a residence and even encroaches on the monastery above. That's too bad.
I only have one complaint, when I finish the dungeons they are not marked as completed, and I like that detail because I have hundreds of mods that add locations and the completion marker helps me differentiate between them Edit: It was solved by moving the mod at the bottom in my list wrath of dashpool, I loved it, what seems like a simple bandit cave turned out to be a whole arena, incredible!!!
It's a good mod - not as average as people make it seem. The dungeons are decent and fun to run through.
Also - additional tip... this mod works just fine flagged as an ESM for those wanting to reduce refs.
Conflicts with a dungeon from immersive dungeons. But you just have to fast travel to the immersive dungeons one so mostly cosmetic. (Dashpools forehead)
Might I suggest a name change for this mod, instead of Additional Cave which only implies a singular, perhaps something like "Dashpool's Dungeons" given that each dungeon uses the Dashpool name, would make more sense, or something that would say, hey, there's more here than just an additional cave.
Aside the the naming, I am really enjoying these dungeons a whole lot. I started these at around level 45, playing on novice difficulty. So far I have done FrontTeeth, Fist, Ear, Claw, Dimple, Shell, Heart and currently on Nose. The difficulty and length of these dungeons varies, so far seem to be half and half, some very long and others of moderate length, but all providing some pretty heavy as well as unique challenges. My favorite so far, Dashpool's Heart, which had some really awesome traps and other devices. Speaking of traps, you have mastered the art of the trap, so well placed and many taking me by surprise and actually killing me, thank you for that. That is the one thing (okay, one of too many things) lacking in the original Skyrim, sure they have traps but most are advertised and hardly a surprise nor of much danger. Anyway, I look forward to more of this and hopefully each new dungeon will provide enough newness as to keep things interesting the whole way.
2022-10-24 update Finished the rest of the dungeons : Nose, Crescent, Burrow, Waist, Wrinkle, Dashpoolzel Loophole, Forehead, Hilum, Pebble, Vellus, Mouth, Scar and finally Wrath. Once I got to the secret battles in Wrath I reached level 51; I had only went up 6 levels over the course of playing this mod, friggin leveling taking forever. I only had a few gripes, mostly being a must to be at a really high level because of how strong the enemies are (though I did at some point increase the difficulty from novice to normal given the amount of loot and some dungeons being easier later than the ones I started with) and also perhaps some dungeons were a bit excessive in length and the amount of foes, still I enjoyed this one a lot especially for all the interesting things and deadly traps that I sometimes was thinking of Tomb Raider or Deadtrap Dungeon, good stuff.
All the dungeons i tried were massive and normally you would think that's a good thing, but they all follow this template:
1. Huge cavern 2. Lots of corridors and to prevent taking shortcuts there are walls everywhere. for example you want to go from A to B. The shortest path is A --- B. This mod makes it so the path is A /\/\/\ B and there is no reason for the serpentine paths. They're just there to pad for time, and they make the dungeon feel even bigger than it is. Sometimes there aren't any enemies along the path. You just follow a serpentine because. 3. Lots of copy/pasted environment features. 4. Lots of enemies. One of the dungeons has more trolls in a fenced area than the entirety of the dawnguard faction. Other dungeons feel entirely empty. You can do the entire Dashpoolzel by sneaking since mobs only pop up if you're detected. And guess what, it's NOT fun for a sneak character to wander around a dungeon that's too big with nothing to do in it. 5. Too many rewards. Might as well do coc qasmoke... The end chest is always full of stuff, sometimes there are alchemist satchels placed around and they always contain nearly ALL types of potions imaginable 6. Unintuitive levers/buttons or even worse:timed levers. As i said above the dungeons are huge, so more often than not you find yourself looking for a lever that is hidden somewhere in the dungeon and when you flip it...you have no idea what it opened. You have to explore the dungeon again and hope you'll find which door opened. Timed levers are even worse. You flip it and after a few seconds the door closes again. 7. They're radiant and in my experience they show up too often. This means you get to experience the tediousness of these dungeons more than once and with how many rewards you get it's easy to abuse.
This mod really isn't for me, i played with it from level 1 all the way up to 55. These are just massive tedious dungeons. There is nothing rare or cool to look at, the rewards are all just enchanted armors there is no story whatsoever.
Now i will uninstall it and hope that nothing breaks... And yeah it requires uninstalling since they are radiant enabled and it's the only way i know of to avoid these dungeons. I definitely do not want to go through any of these dungeons more than once. I don't hate myself that much
I was looking forward to playing this mod. However, I get the infinite loading screen when starting the game, when both this mod and "Skyrim Underground" is active. I went through all my mods systematically, and when I deactivate either Skyrim Underground or this mod, it works. I play in VR, otherwise no issues as such.
Entertaining but the first mission related with this mod i got an annoying bug to finish the mission "Kill the bandit leader at Dashpool´s Claw", and the susprise was that there was no leader, just a marker pointing at the floor and no leader, so i can't finish the mission after going aaaaallllllll the way down on the cave, really dissapointing, i hope there is a solutions for that.
