Apologies for the months-long delay but I've finally made an update! The mod now has a lot of voiced dialogue courtesy of Keara Hayes (whose resume you can find here), with more to come in the hopefully very near future.
Only came across this mod because of NKO's replacer, who described it as criminally underrated (totally agree). The voice acting is perfect for the character and is well done and written. Definitely a permanent fixture in my load order.
I just wanted to say thank you for Yaz. Remiels interaction with her is really nicely done.
Could you maybe add a description of her best skills somewhere? Ingame she mentions serving in the legion but I can't figure out if she prefers light or heavy armor, 1 or 2 hand, bows or destruction (she does favor the staves I gave her, it seems?). Thank you!
I was really excited for this mod and installed it on a lvl 24 save. Sadly unless I'm blind it doesn't say anywhere that she outright refuses to speak to you if you're a Stormcloak. I think this should be a disclaimer in the description at least. The voice acting sounds outright made for the game by Bethesda, so I was really looking forward to that. Another time, I guess.
So, the next update for Yazakh is coming soon and while it's not gonna be a huge update, it will include a way for Stormcloak players to recruit her / persuade her to rejoin them.
Thank you for this info, I am playing with her as a follower rn and was planning on joining the Stormcloaks but was unsure bc of her Legion background if that was a good idea.
Do you ever plan to add beyond reach dialogue later in yazakhs development? I just think it'd be fun to see yazakhs reaction to all the orc violence in that mod, especially with remiel along.
I am absolutely astounded to see someone giving orcs the custom voice treatment. As an actor myself, I say bravo to you for creating this and brava to Keara Hayes for her voicework! I'm really looking forward to seeing more from this mod in the future! :)
i really appreciate the writing of this follower just because of how normal it is. she doesn't try to be a larger than life character, or insert herself into the story unnecessarily. her personality and VA make her easy to have around without getting annoying and the whole college educated skeptic perspective is relatable. admitting her writing is bad as an excuse to not show it to the player gets even funnier when remiel is there because they have this relationship of two people who really want the other to think they're cool so remiel has to pretend she understands the writing while yaz has to act like she isnt making up the meaning on the spot.
Great comments completely agree. The Remiel interaction very well done. I stop playing the game and just listen to them and laugh. The "better get into character....." lines are a great touch. Would be great in the next version if she gets some Monty Python/Ferris Bueller/Deadpool style lines where she steps out of the game/story and addresses you the human behind the keyboard and not the Dragonborn. In her case, I don't think that would spoil the immersion. I think that would work.
her story about the orc cheiftan being a tragedy sounds kinda like Things Fall Apart with the whole "big macho tribal guy destroys his life for the sake of his pride" shtick
Quick question here and I see some others have asked but no solid answers yet. I partied up and gave her new armor but she only wore the boots and gauntlets. I can set up an SPID to give her different gear but anyone know why she won't equip better armor than the dress she has equipped when you meet her?
Other than that I really like the character so far. Seems like a great follower mod!
Thank you RobotPolarBear for the awesome follower! Anyone who is trying to not hit the 254 plugin limit, I recommend ESL-ing this! Save that load order spot <3
Here are the steps from the ESPFE Follower modpage on how to ESL flag follower mods (so it propertly converts facegen and voice files using the script):
Very cool concept, but FYI, that script does not work on the current experimental version of xEdit (aka SSEEdit) (4.1.5c). I read that there may be an upcoming fix in xEdit.
Are you sure the conversion will work here? Yazakh - Custom-Voiced Orc Follower has scripts and voice files, which can sometimes cause an issue with compacting/ESLing. Masked's script does check for some possible problems, but I don't think it checks for that.
This is after also installing/enabling Yazakh Follower Replacer - Chooey's Choice (and Chooey's Choice Requirements, which the replacer needs). I then ESLed the original mod.
Did anyone else have success ESLing this mod AND have the voice work?

I am intending on using this mod with the replacer: Yazakh Follower Replacer - Chooey's Choice.
I ran the script with the replacer enabled. Here is the bottom of the log:
Converted voice files: 2171, not converted: 0.
Deleted files: 2173.
Plugin Yazakh.esp was turned into ESPFE by compacting FormIDs and adding ESL flag in TES4 header.
