I tried to install it in all possible ways that are mentioned here, but I can't get it to work. In the registy under Bethesda Softworks, there isn't even a folder "Skyrim Special Edition" and creating one didn't do the trick either. Is there any way I could solve this. It's frustrating since there is no other modmanager available on nexus. Please help
Really great mod manager. I have a very small modlist (>20 mods) and this is amazing for such things. I only wish it could install FMODS while still beign lightwieght.
I dont own Fallout 4 so I cant test it but it probably wouldn't be too hard to make work, That said I'm away for work atm so I currently am unable to work on it
Please update to have this work with the GOG version of Skyrim. The plugins.txt directory for the GOG version is stored in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition GOG\Plugins.txt
Could not find Skyrim SE Install Path Make sure the "Installed Path" string values is set in the Registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\Bethesda Softwords\Skyrim Special Edition\Installed Path
This seems to be the new path when I looked in my Windows registry for the GOG version of the game
Thanks for making the update! The GOG version of the game does not even come with a way to manage or enable mods, it was removed in the GOG version so this is very much needed.
It does now work on Windows. However on Linux when using wine 8.0.1 it does not work and I get an error? What are the requirements for this application? Does it require a specific version of .NET Framework?
hmm, im not sure what the issue is, it checks if the Plugins.txt exists for GOG and if so it loads in GOG mode otherwise it loads in Steam mode, looks like its loading in Steam mode on Linux for you for some reason, under Wine is the Plugin.txt in the same path as on windows?
No, the plugins txt is still located in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition GOG, however a Plugins.txt has not been yet generated even though I launched the game once before
its not that simple unfortunately because i use the Plugin.txt to determine what mode to be in Steam/GOG if neither Steam or GOG Plugin.txt exist then there isnt any way to know what path to create it at
I did a fresh install of the game on Linux with Wine and on Windows. Since the GOG version of the game has no way of generating the Plugins.txt file, the Could not find a part of the path 'C:\users\legomaniam94\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition\Plugins.txt' error will occur regardless running the modmanager on windows or linux.
I tried testing this with the steam version but the mods manager in the game is down right now. From what I understand, the steam version will generate a Plugins.txt file when you manage your mods within the mods menu in the game.
I will report back when the mod menu is back up and working for the steam version of the game to see how it works, weather it will generate a plugins file or not.
yes please let me know how that goes, maybe I can just add a popup for if it cant find any Plugin.txt and ask what version of the game then generate the missing file? I wont be able to do anything for a couple days tho as I'm away from home atm
The mod menu is back up and running with the Steam version of Skryim SE. And to simply generate a Plugins.txt file for the Steam version of the game all the user needs to do is launch the game. Do not need to go into the Creations menu (Which is the new Mods menu) or even load a save, just launch the game and close it and the Plugins.txt is generated.
Not sure if you want to have it so if it does not find the Plugins.txt, to generate one in the GOG directory or to include in the description of the mod page that you may need to create a blank Plugins.txt file for the GOG version before using the ModManager.
I'll probably just have a prompt if it can't find the Plugins.txt if you are using GOG and if so generate it then But I'm unable to do anything until I'm back home from work (away from home) but then it is a pretty easy fix
The app reads the Registry to find where the game is located, you might have to manually update the "Installed Path" registry key to the correct location, it is found here in the registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Skyrim Special Edition"
*Warning* People who are new to modding shouldn't use this program. It will give them wrong ideas about how mods work, and since almost all mods have installation process where you have to choose between multiple choices, using this program is really a bad idea. Unless you know what you're doing don't use this program (especially) if you're new to modding.
This program is great for people who already know how mods work and mod their game manually, this will give them a bit more control and less headache, thank you for making this.
Vortex is based on MO2 (has the same developer) and has a seriously steep learning curve. I used it for over a month and went back to Nexus Mod Manager because of having too many issues with Vortex. Can't say anything about MO2 because I've never used it. Had a look at MO2 and NMM and opted for the latter because of its ease of use. Been using NMM for almost ten years now.
Thank you for this. (MO2) honestly seems to be the most simple manager from what I've tried, and is easy (or I would hope) for people who are new to modding and those that mod quite often, though I have not modded Bethesda games aside from using Vortex and once in FO:NV so was a bit lost.

Edit: The issue is Nexus mods, the file hash of the downloaded verison isnt matching the file im uploading, trying to fix now by zipping the file
Edit2: New download should be working now (should auto detect GOG/Steam)

Could not find a part of the path 'C:\users\legomaniam94\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition\Plugins.txt'.
If this is something you can fix, I would most appreciate it! I will be willing to test it out on Windows and Linux to make sure it works.
Would it be possible to have it so it will generate a blank Plugins.txt file if it does not exist to prevent this error?

the correct location, it is found here in the registry
