Hiya. I like this idea. But at this time i won't download it because of the way it looks. What bothers me is that all the guards wear the cloth/scarf in exactly the same way. If you could do some variations, where different holdguards would wear the cloth in a different way it would look a lot more real imo. Now it's like they all went to the same fashion designer
Thanks for sharing though. The idea is very good imo! And the cloth/scarfs look very nice.
I wouldn't know any alternatives, but maybe as example: The solitude cloth/scarf you could put it over just one shoulder, folded-up. Maybe it will also solve the clipping with the shoulder armor that way?

I did not make the models, I simply retextured something I was allowed to use. As such i cannot do any such changes, as i said in the Q&A.

It is true I would like to make the style unique to each hold as well, but that is above my current abilities.

This mod was created more to break up the identical armors, while giving them a mildly lore friendly way to show off their identity as guards still.
I may yet do a version without the mantles at all, with only their shields to identify them, though that would make the stormcloaks difficult to recognize, realistic as that would be.

Thank you very much for the reply!
There is something I do not know ...
Does this mod completely remove the default guard armor or do some guards use it?

To avoid naked men I did not remove them entirely, however as far as I know all instances of it have been replaced with other armor sets.
There is now a generic version of it with a brown tabard, that has been integrated into the guard lists and is craftable, but the vanilla guard uniforms are no longer spawning.

Actually, I think, the look of the scarfs has one simple origin, the vanilla banners don't look good.

Although it also depends on the individual banner, the falkreath scarf looks fine, the solitude is a bit meh.

I could imagine that scarfs based on this modder resource would look better:

      http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/13429/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D13429%26preview%3D&pUp=1

Also mod recommendations for additional unique guard armors:

      http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/78070/?tab=9&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodreadme%2F%3Fid%3D78070&pUp=1

This is actually a complete unique Falkreath guard armor, based on Morrowind concept arts.

But just this: Great mod, I never liked this mass produced uniforms for "Team Morthal - Green" "Team Solitude -Red". Especially the change for Morthall, it just makes sense that they would just wear random Fur and iron bits.

Although I have to say, no matter how rich the hold is, I don't it makes sense for guards to wear heavy steelplate amor, not such a great thing for normal guard duty. I think iron and normal steel armor looks somewhat reasonable for a patroling guard, especially if they mix it with light armor, but steelplate is a bit to much, in my opinion.

      @WBizzyW

To try and keep vanilla consistency and without the notoriety to effectively ask for permission of high quality works, I based the colors and designs of the scarfs off the banners and emblems of the cities. The wealth of each city is also reflected in the design as best I can; Solitude or Markarth can afford to have their emblems embroadered on or woven in, where as poor-er areas are merely stained or painted on, like in Morthal's case.

I myself don't have much experience porting forward mods from Oldrim to SE, thus making my mod largely a use of vanilla assets. Esentially if i had more options I could do more but I did my best with what I had until either somone more skilled comes along and makes me obsolite, or I upgrade and update the mod when I have more resources.

As for the steel plate point; There are only 2 cities that have access to it.
1; Solitude uses the chestplate mixed with imperial steel or standard steel parts. This is more an example of a guard who may have retired from adventuring, or has used his own coin to upgrade in a city where such would be possible.

1; Markarth. In this case it is based on the lore of how lucrative and corrupt the silver bloods are. In this case it is less an act of the 'city' arming their guards with such, but rather a way of ensuring loyalty of the guardsmen through such a valuable trinket. Or at least thats the thought.

      Thank you for the answers.
I was thinking (mostly because of the other good points the other posters made), if it is possible to make separate files for every hold.
So we can choose which ones we want to add.

**For example, i've seen another mod which also adds clothing to guards, and if we could like choose which hold would have the clothing of the mod of our choosing, in total it would look like every hold would have a different tailor.
**For example i would use your mod for 2 holds, the other mod for 2 holds and other guards i would keep on vanilla.
      Just an idea.

PS The other mod is called: Reoutfitted Guards and Soldiers. I have not tried it yet, but that one also has only one file. And that one also uses just one type of fashion (same type of scarf for all of the hold guards, just different colours).
Mixing those two mods would be a great idea imo.

It would be possible to make a mod like this modular, though it would require some rebuilding if I were to do so. Its somthing I may consider more if the mod evolves. I'm currently looking through what I can in the Vanilla assets to toss in some more variety in their symbols of Authority.

I'd like to say that this entire discussion is very interesting! Nina, you really get a good idea with that mod.
I personally made some alterations for my personal use (inclusive made some textures to match the concept of the Design of the Nords, later i'll send u some pics).
I was thinking too that the problems with clippings appear to be, in most of the cases, with the pauldrons of the bigger armors. For example, the Steel Armor without Pauldrons is ok...
So, can i magine how to build some Steelplate without Pauldrons too.

If u want, talk to KEBW1144, if he permits, what i think u get great chance, i'll share with u the textures with happiness =-)
(Sorry about the english, i'm brazilian)

Would it be possible for the guards to keep their respective holds armor after the Civil War questline? It always bothered me when either side didn't bother to just reorganize the city guards.

As for the armor and the Hold Mantles, they look really awesome and keeps it lore friendly! It's really nice to not see an army of clones when I walk into Whiterun or Solitude!

Also, any plans for some stuff for the Imperials? I'm really trying not to sound like bossy douche, but I'm curious!

Possible, Yes. I'm not exactly sure how, but Its been done, so I could maybe look into it. ^^

I'm glad you like, I get enough clones in my star wars, they can stay out of my skyrim.

As for Imperials.. Since they have their armor and shields, I didn't feel they needed one really. I could add one, with a rare spawn chance and crafting recipe if there was interest in such. The main problem is that it clips, horribly with Imperial Heavy armor.

Its alright you sound fine, everyone has an opinion and request, but I do try to listen and take good thoughts into consideration.

Well I haven't tried this yet, but judging from the screenshots some of the outfits don't work IMO. Specially Solitude, which looks like they grabbed some flag or standard and wrapped it around themselves. The colors fit well mostly, but again Solitude stands out a little too much.

I'm thinking - replace the giant insignias for some with a pin or modify the clasps they already have? Maybe a silver wolf's head for Solitude? Instead of the small round iron clasp they all share.

After having tried this mod for a few hours I must say it is great! Very immersive, excellent!
But, some clipping problems must be corrected ... in the images posted by the author you see some of those ...
And a recommendation: it would be good if the mantles of the imperial faction carry their corresponding symbol, the dragon of the screen of the title.
Thanks, excellent mod by the way

      I'm glad you like it.
Unfortunately as I said I did not make the models, so I cannot myself do anything about the clipping.

Also, there is no Imperial mantle, only Solitude. The Imperials have their uniforms to distinguish themselves. xD

I think for the original Skyrim, this cloaks had HDT physics, but I don't think that HDT for the Special Edition even exists yet? But as far as remodelling goes, that wouldn't make sense anyway, you would have to create a cloak for each specific armor. Separate items like capes will always clip somewhat without physics.

Even as far as an HDT version goes, could be pretty hard on the performance if a bunch of guards runs around with HDT Physics.

Ok, I'm gonna give this a shot, really like it. I know you said you can't change the models, but 1 cool addition might be, instead of making all the guard spawn with it, maybe make is an optional equip?

You said you changed the variety of the armor the guards and can spawn with, what if you just threw this shrouds in with that part? So, some spawn with it, and some don't. It's like their choice if they want to wear it or not.

Is that possible? Or is it an all of nothing type thing?

Also, if I end up not liking it, are they're any issues with uninstalling it?

Well, it would be possible to do so yes. I initially created it as a sort of, replacement for their usual clothing colors but I could tinker with the optional side of it.

As for uninstalling it is perfectly safe to uninstall. However much like the situation when installing in an existing save, you will end up with guards still in my outfits, minus the mantle, until they respawn with vanilla outfits. Only one armor set will cease to exist, leading to a few rare naked guards until respawn.

    Looks awesome!!
    I've some questions:
1 - Is it compatible with Diverse Guards Skyrim http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2324/???
2 - Is it compatible with Semi open guard helmet www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3077/???
3 - Is it compatible with Immersive Armors http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3479/? ??
4 - Does this mod change the dialogues or IA of some npcs ??

1; yes it works fine, although the mantles can look a bit more clippy on some of the new guards.

2; Yes it works fine with it, however I am unsure if it will be effected by it. If its a model swap yes. If esp reroute, no.

3; Immersive armors is compatable with ALL armor mods, as it uses scripts to add to leveled lists instead of altering lists directly.

4; No, this mod doesn't change anything aside from leveled lists to achieve what it does.
