Hey guys check out version C from downloads, I am hoping this one is received well. It might resolve some of the issues of those people who had problems with custom swapped mouse keys. Also way better for casters IMO and even melee.
EDIT, also just uploaded version D. This one is you stand still or move backwards to block. I like this one a lot. Hopefully everyone finds something that suits their play style. Thanks for suggestions, I haven't forgotten any of them. I will get new features in as soon as possible.
For those wondering in the future: this mod is incompatible with true directional movement (since it relies on specific movement inputs). If you want a dual block mod get one that works off a hotkey
Hey it looks like this hasnt been updated in a while but is it possible to allow a dual wielding block with a left handed weapon and a right handed spell equipped? Fantastic mod btw! light weight and gets the job done for sure!
Using the back enables blocking version. It works flawlessly and so far haven't seen issues with AI. Thanks for this! I want to keep my mod count to a minimum, and no script extender, so this is exactly what I wanted.
I have been using this mod (same version as you aka A) for a year and didn't notice this problem until I got a follower that is a spellsword, so a character that uses spells in one hand and melee in another (namely Erandur and Teldryn Sero). It doesn't happen immediately, but after fighting for a while the follower starts to always block during combat and stop using spells (probably after their mana runs out). They block even without weapons and engage in combat only in melee range/when the enemy hits them.
Way to reset them is to use the command "kill" and "resurrect" on them (note: it also resets their inventory), but the blocking bug starts again at some point if you have the mod installed.
Other problems I have had with these followers (that might not be caused by this mod but something else), is that Erandur randomly gets stuck and doesn't move until I use "resetAI" on him or reload a previous save, and Teldryn Sero refusing to wait, unless it's commanded & told to wait somewhere with hold E.
THIS MOD IS DEAD AND NOT SAFE FOR MANY MOD SETUPS. If you look at the bugs tab you will note that all bugs have no noted fixes and have not been addressed. The author has not been active for many years, and there appears to be many issues with combat AI especially with custom followers like INIGO.
It works really great for the player but it really messes up with enemy or ally AI. Spellcasters simply are stuck into "magic" block. Any idea about a workaround ?
Could u make another version that blocks with dual weapons but not left hand magic? Cause i'm running into a bug (i think it's a bug) that i can't fire left hand magic while both hands are useing magic.
After a while of searching I've found that If you want instant blocking you can use this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3568. Using both mods allows instant blocking with shields and dual wield.
