Sigh.... dark face bug. I have no mods that count be conflicting so I don't understand. I'm going to claw my eyes out if I have to keep looking at vanilla brothers.

Make sure you are using the correct Apachii hair pack. Vilkas requires the standalone male hair pack, not the male and female combined pack. If you have that pack, make sure you don't have any other mods that alter Vilkas in any way. SSEEdit is a good way to check for this. Also, move Vilkas to the bottom of your load order and see if that helps. Let me know if these suggestions work. If not, I'll try to think of something else.

I saw in the description that any other mod that changes Vilkas (and I would assume Farkas as well) would conflict with your mod. Would that include WICO? I ended up with black faces on both of them after installing WICO. The only fix was to remove the FaceGenData folder which fixed the black face but removed all the goodness that was the facial structure you created for both these Companions. My question is whether or not loading Vilkas and Farkas AFTER WICO would potentially fix this. I love the work you did on them and don't want to lose that.

I don't use WICO, but if it is a character overhaul that modifies Vilkas/Farkas, it will definitely conflict. You can try loading my Vilkas/Farkas after it to see if it will fix it. I would even install them after WICO, not just move their ESPs. If it doesn't work, you might try looking at the WICO mod in SSEEdit to see if it shows whether or not it edits them. Let me know if any of that helps.

Thank you for the response. I uninstalled both of them and reinstalled. Then I moved them below WICO and that worked. I am so glad they are back to normal!!

Had the same problem as BlueBookWorms but with http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1037/?tab=3&selected_game=1704&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrimspecialedition%2Fajax%2Fmodimages%2F%3Fid%3D1037%26user%3D1%26gid%3D1704&pUp=1
    any suggestions?

Chances are, it's a conflict. It looks like that mod changes textures and such, which will conflict with my recommended mod (Better Males). If that mod changes Vilkas in any way, it will conflict with my Vilkas.

Try disabling that mod and just use my Vilkas (and Better Males if you want). How does he look then?

Let me know, and if that doesn't work, I'll try to think of something else.

I got the exact same problem. I really like what the "Total Character Makeover" does, though, so I'd really like to keep it. Any chance you could make an alternative file that works with that? I know it's much to ask, so I'll perfectly unterstand it if you won't!

I don't use Total Character Makeover, so I probably won't make a compatibility version for it. I'm not familiar with the file's setup, so let me suggest a couple of things for you to try before ruling it out as a complete incompatibility. If TCM is an esp, install it first, then install my Vilkas, then put my Vilkas below it in your load order. If TCM is textures only (no esp), install it first, then install my Vilkas, and let my Vilkas overwrite TCM.

I'll give that a try tomorrow, thank you!

Oh, your Farkas mod works just fine, btw - any idea why this one might be different? I really haven't got a clue about modding, so not sure if that helps finding out what went wrong...

TCM may not alter Farkas at all or at least not in a way that could cause an incompatibility. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case with Vilkas. Ah, the joys of trying to make mods work together. Let me know if any of my suggestions fix the problem.

How about an all in one of your makeovers? :-)

Eventually. I'm finishing up with my last mod port to SSE, and then I'm actually going to play the game for a while.

Very cool. :-) If you do ever get around to it, I think it would be a cool if you had all the guys in one, and all the girls in another. But I'd settle for an all in one of all of them!

That's definitely how I would do it because some people like the guys but not the girls and vice versa.

I added this and the recommended Better Faces mod and Vilkas didn't look anything like your pics. His skin was very dark and his hair seemed almost blondish. I removed Better Faces and the strange coloring was still there. Removing this but keeping Better Faces made him slightly cleaner with normalized coloring, but I really like your alternate images! Any suggestions to get this to work?

Hmm. That's very strange. Do you have any other mods that alter Vilkas in any way? Any that alter skin textures, body mods, etc.? If so, uninstall them. If not, try installing Vilkas first, then the Better Faces mod second via mod manager. That's what I did when testing him, and he looked fine. Let me know if any of this works. If not, I'll try to think of something else.

I feel stupid and I really appreciate your quick reply. I forgot that I had added a Male Texture mod way back when I first started SE. I removed it, added yours and Vilkas is a beautiful man. Thanks for a great mod!!
