Hi,im making a mod that woud kinda of benefit from a patch with your "Heavy Dawnguard Shield" mod,you gave no instructions in your modpage so im assuming i can do so as long as i give you credit,are you ok with this?
Having the shield wont level up your corresponding Armor skill. Bashing/power bashing/taking damage/blocking/wearing the shield nothing will influence the corresponding armor skill advance. So if you made this mod out of fear of levelling unwanted Light Armor skill you're wrong.
It affects the shield's AR, though. I tested it with and without the mod, and on my character with levels and perks in Heavy Armor, the AR is higher with the mod.
