Why is everyone asking what this mod does? It is clearly stated in the description. It is a map marker mod. It adds map markers. You guys can't seriously be as thick as you are all acting.

Contains the following of SarthesArai mods: Map Markers Camps and Shacks Map Markers Cities Map Markers Landmarks Map Markers Misc Map Markers Ruins Map Markers Shrines and Temples Map Markers Solstheim ***if this doesn't makes sense, it means it adds map markers for said locations. It took me literally a few seconds to load a game with this installed, turn speedmult to 500, run around and find map markers i never had before. Simple****
If this doesn't give you the hint that it adds map markers, you have serious comprehension problems. There also seems to be zero misunderstanding, and zero complaints on the original oldrim file, and no complaints here since 2016 when this mod was introduced, so if everyone could figure out what this mod did in 2013-2018, why can't people figure out what this mod does in 2020?
Lol. The first thing I thought coming on this page was : "I'm not sure what this mod is doing... Let's go through the description then... Hum, ok it's a marker icons mod but still not sure if it's only that, let's see the comments section..."
I think the confusion comes from the screenshots. Why adding two screenshots of in-game gameplay around one of the world map ? Does this mod reveals all the "secret" areas to discover ? Or is it just a custom map icons mod ?
Are they added as unfound locations? That is what I want to know. I don't want them all to be found, I want to know what else their is that I have not found.
The screenshots do actually make sense. In vanilla, dragonmounds are present but they aren't discoverable -- they don't have map markers. The first screenshot is an example showing that now when you approach a new dragon mound you'll get the Location Discovered message (which happens when a location is marked on your map).
These aren't secret areas, although some of them are ones you might have stumbled over and found to be fun little discoveries (like the fairy ring in the second pic). In general the map markers that are added are just places that Bethesda didn't deem important enough to get their own map markers. Bethesda was pretty minimalist with their map markers. This mod is for people who want a more filled out map (or who want more xp from discovering places on the map).
Location icons will also show up on your HUD display just like vanilla map markers do. If that's something you want to avoid, either turn off your HUD or get a mod like Undiscovered Means Unknown.
I've been using this mod for awhile & really enjoy the convenience of being able to fast travel back to more precise locations. It's also fun to see so many places on the map, like an expanded record of the places I've gone and the things I've seen. Seeing all those markers is a different kind of (non-loot) reward for exploring. :)
No, genius, it's actually incredibly poorly described. It does not at any point clearly specify that it adds map markers. The description itself simply refers to the original mod, and assumes people already know what that mod does. The closest it comes to an actual description is referring to the original mod as a 'map marker collection', but if you can't think of any way that that could possibly be interpreted with any ambiguity or uncertainty whatsoever, you must have a shallow understanding of the English language.
For people trying to figure out what exactly this mod does - it adds a LOT of map markers to minor locations in the game.Makes them feel more significant, and makes it easier to return to them if need be.
the mod author took the time to clean up and assemble many other mods to make this.
FYI, looks like 6 of the links on the mod description are no longer correct as Nexus has updated things since the original posting. i.e. Map Markers Misc link goes to http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26688 , but it should actually be https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26688
DownLoadable Content. In many games, it has come to mean official addons that are downloaded and added to the main game. Dragonborn, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn are the DLCs for Skyrim. They came packed in the special edition. But in the original they had to be downladed after the initial release.
That said, the generalized term of "DLC" is not true in this mod's case.
It only handles the Dragonborn DLC (DLC02), but it does NOT handle Dawnguard (DLC01).
As far as Hearthfire, I am unsure exactly, as it is blended in with the general world and does not have distinctive areas in the Worldspace category to determine easily.
For a Dawnguard map marker mod, I have found Dawnguard Map Markers to be a good source.
This is an iffy one for this mod. I've been playing with the idea myself of doing this. The simplest rule is this: do NOT convert any mod to ESPL for a current game.
That said, for a new game, this is still questionable for this mod, as it does nothing but add custom ID's to cell and worldspace areas. If any mod then overwrites any of these references, it will break your game.
The only work-around that I've discovered is to have any overwriting mod loaded into xEdit alongside this one when you compact and covert it, so that any subsequent mod that alters the files will also alter it's callout at the same time. The problem with this is that any further tweaks to the file will require it to be restored to original, and then compacted/converted again.
That said, the long answer is "yes", with the above caveats.
I like super light. At the same time, I also like map markers for Soul Cairn (and all of Dawnguard for that matter) which aren't really in this mod. Not to dig on this mod, but I'm going with the one mentioned by Drake0713 as well. I've done the Dawnguard quests so many times that fast travel is the only way to stomach them now. :)
Several reports of mod not working with mcm and conflicting with mods not even associated with the map it's self. Nothing reported here other then a few small issues that can easily be resolved.

thanks to them!
If the description said "adds map markers for locations not covered in vanilla" ,this comment section would be empty. heh.
