At first it didn't work for me either via Vortex.  Disabled and Enabled again the mod under MODS "tab", that didn't work.  Uninstalling and Installing again didn't work either.  However, when I went into the PLUGINS "tab" for it and disabled and then enabled it again, it did then work.  FYI for future people.

      FYI for future people.
So, you think future people will still be playing Skyrim?

If you are using Odin then put this mod after Odin in the load order.

Actually, if all you are doing is changing the script you don't need a separate version for Special Edition, other than just for the convenience of finding it.
The Skyrim mod Transmute Iron Ore First works like a charm and has 3 variations - all give the proper experience.
    https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11025
With Option 3 of that mod you can transmute all of your Iron to Silver in 1 cast.
For the curious, you'd need roughly 5,900 Iron Ore to transmute yourself from level 15 to level 100, with just 2 casts.

I don't get it why this wasn't already in the original game. I understand that Skyrim must have been a huge project for Bethesda to take on and it's great that they managed to release it in the first place, but there is such a ridiculous amount of bugs, glitches, other issues, overlooked aspects of gameplay, storytelling, lore, balance, etc., that personally at least, the vanilla Skyrim experience is downright a chore to play, unenjoyable, while many different kinds of mods from combat overhauls to what I might think are really straightforward additions like this mod are what make the game a lot more enjoyable.

Very nice mod! Pretty useful changes.
But I have a question: is it possible to make needed for transmute more iron ore? Like 5 iron ore for 1 silver. Can you do that?

If you just have changed the script, there won't be the need of a translation ;(
