You could use SSEedit to remove the spell "LZAConjureDireWolf" from the ESP. Then he could not summon the wolf. However, in a saved game this may not have any effect, since the save "remembers" so much.
You must have a mod loaded which is affecting WolfRace, since normally he is friendly to allies.
ive got belrand following me, and for the most part he seems to work alright, but sometimes when i talk to him to trade items, it doesnt work. he just says 'alright then' and doesnt open the inventory. its not all the time tho, i can trade with him fine sometimes. not really sure why hes doing that, thought i should mention it.
It sounds possibly like a load order issue. In general, follower mods like this one should be lower in teh load order than any dialogue overhauls or follower overhauls.
