For anyone interested in a more detailed configuration option, Check out GemmaLead's layout. He improves on my controlmap.txt with added quick menu's and better support for XBO controllers.
For the record, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/246 still works perfectly fine in SE, and it gives you 8 hotkeys. Been using it since SSE released, and have had no problems, and everything works fine.
You can easily obtain 8 hotkeys by using LB + d-pad I would also recommend antimicro. You can bind the xbox button and even ad multiple functions (for ex: push = quicksave hold 0.5 sec = quickload)
That's a good recommendation. I tried to keep it simple so people wouldn't need to do hand acrobatics, but using the LB + D-pad might even make it easier to assign and call assignments.
I meant use animicro + the control.txt .. That way you have more keys to bind ! What's not to love ? But hey if you can't trust.. then don't i'm only giving you guys some advices to enjoy playing with a gamepad even more^^
Cool mod. Anyway to do the following or would you consider providing an alternative file that allows for up, left, and right, to work as they do in vanilla, but map down to a diff favorite item/ weapon? That would be ideal for those who have trouble hitting the correct diagonal direction on a D-pad. TIA.
Done. I know people were having trouble with the Down hotkey, and that's because I left the default command there. So in effect, you could use the hotkey as intended, but you had to assign it with the keyboard because the default command to scroll through the favorites menu was preventing it from assigning. Now it no longer scrolls, and you can assign the 7th key.
BTW vanilla controls do allow you to have 3 presets (sort of) what I do is equip my arrows/ bolts, and dual wield or a one hand and torch/ shield (since you can block with torch too) then assign my two hander to LEFT and my bow to RIGHT. Now when you swap between the two assigned weapons, press it a second time while already having that weapon equipped and your toon will unequip it, and resort to what you were using previously (dual wield, OR one hand & shield/ torch). I love my 1 hand/ torch combo for when dungeon diving, then I can swap between my two presets when I need to go stealthy or all out berserk mode.
Sorry, not fully understanding. If I removed the sprint command from the button it wouldn't work when you need it to. you only need to stop moving for a moment to avoid sprinting, press either START for Quicksave, or BACK for Quickload, let it do its thing, and then you resume. I hope that helps.
If I am not mistaken, cant you set sprint to not toggle in the standard controls menu? that is how I usually play. Pretty sure I have not installed any controller mods yet either. Thinking of using this one.
I don't use a wireless controller, but it should be the same so long as it's using x-input. be sure the file is installed correctly; you can also just put the file in the data folder directly in case the mod manager didn't do it properly. You can just delete it later, since the original is part of the skyrim bsa.
the default controlmap.txt is in the BSA, deleting my file wont delete the default controls. If you're using a 60 controller it should have xinput by default unless you're using an emulator of some sort.
From the description, I discerned that if I use the seven hotkey version of the mod, then I can assign either "up" or "down" d-pad button to an item, but then in order to scrolls through the favorite menu, I have to use the analog stick. Am I wrong? Because both up and down are still calling the favorite menu and are used to scrolls between items, and I can't assign the 4th hotkey which looks was intended to be assigned via d-pad down.
I included that bit because it was a problem I had when first making the edits the controlmap.txt. When I made it on the original Skyrim I deleted the command for the d-padto pull up and scroll through the favorites menu, so I had to use the analog. If it didn't get saved that way then all the better, you can still scroll through the menus.
Try using your keyboard for the assignment, then use the d-pad to pull up the assignment. tell me if that works for you, I'll tinker around with it to make sure I find where I messed up.
The workaround you suggested solved the problem for me. And what's funny, I'm happier this way because I can still use d-pad to scrolls through the items. I just gotta switch to keyboard each time I want to assign d-pad down to a new item which is no problem. Thanks both for your mod and your quick reply. Endorsed.
Glad it worked for you. I hoped my edits would prevent people from having to get up (kinda the point), but if it's a little more convenient for you then i'll accept it.
This one is especially nice because it doesn't change anything about the current control scheme but only adds a few useful hotkey combinations. I like that. Thank you

BTT: Loveed this Mod in Oldrim... will test it later and endorse if it works^^

I have the wireless version.
Should be the right directory
How can I find out if my controller is using x-input?
The file will be part of the skyrim.bsa later?
After that it is possible to set the d pad "down" as a hotkey for a bow (or other weapons) ingame?
Edit: and I installed using the NMM.
