    3.0 RELEASE!

    Added a few requested features. I had to rewrite the mod from scratch. I did a lot of testing on my own and feel it's pretty solid functionally, grammatically maybe not so much. lol

    If you have any issues upgrading from the previous version or run into bugs, please follow the steps to make a clean save in the mod's description before posting a bug report. I would really appreciate it!

    Hi,

    I cant find the tome in either indicated place. Does it have something to do with not completing the main questline yet?

    Will reinstall the mod but was wondering if anyone had some insight as to why I can't find it

      Hello thehench42,

      You should be able to grab them right off the bat without completing the main quest. Do you have any mods that make changes to High Hrothgar? If you do, you could try changing your load order so that my mod is loaded after the other mod or mods. Otherwise I may have to make a patch to change the positioning if that doesn't work.

      As an immediate work around you could open the console and type this into the console:
      help "dragon soul shift" 4

      It should list the code you can use to add the spell book to your inventory. It should look like
      BOOK: (FEXXXD65) 'Spell Tome: Dragon Soul Shift'
      The "XXX" in the code in that example will be different numbers depending on your specific load order.

      After you get that you can use the code for the book and add it to your inventory
      Using the code in the example above you can use:
      player.additem FEXXXD65 1
      It should then add the spell book into your inventory and you can learn the spell from there.

      I seem to have the same problem, in that I can't see anything from this mod - INCLUDING in the console. I CAN get the Spell Tome to show up in the console, but ONLY by using the console command HLP (HotLoadPlugin), (which I only even tried in order to see if the game even "saw" the plugin, to begin with...) but, yeah, HLP is really NOT something to use as a permanent, or even temporary, workaround... Anyway, as I said, AFTER hotloading the plugin, the Tome DOES show up when I search for the item code, but even then, when I add it to inventory and use it to obtain the Power, the game CTD's.

      I am using Skyrim Anniversary Edition, Runtime version 1.6.640, with correct Script Extender Version, if any of that helps.

      Hello Viktorkah,

      Thank you for letting me know of your issue too. I've never ran into that issue myself. SKSE isn't required in this version but if you need to hot reload the plugin there could be an issue with the mod not being enabled in your load order or possibly a mod conflict. The filename of the newest version of the mod has changed, could you check to see if an older version is installed? You could also try to disable and enable the mod from Skyrim's built in load order if you don't have the creations/creation club menu disabled.

      But yes, you should not have to load it, or any mod, via HLP. If you have it enabled and no other versions of my mod installed, could you let me know your load order? I think Nexus lets you message people directly from their profile now in case you don't want to post it publicly .

      P.S. -- the rest of this may be irrelevant:
      I think you need to run a separate "reloadscript [script name]"  command to get scripts working if you're hot reloading. Not running that after HLP may be why it's causing the CTD, but you shouldn't have to do that to get any mod to work unless you were actively developing one and didn't want to restart Skyrim every change. Anyway, this is why I'm thinking it may be a load order/conflict issue, but if none of my suggestions work and/or you have more info please let me know!

    is it compatible with Skyrim VR (1.4.15)?

    AND NO, Skyrim VR is based off Skyrim SE, NOT Skyrim LE or even non-LE Oldrim

      Hello KateHanami,

      I do not have Skyrim VR so I can't confirm if it IS compatible, however it only requires Skytrim.esm so in theory it should be. If the current 3.0 version does not work, the previous version should as it was created before the Skyrim LE update.

      If you decide to try it with Skyrim VR and it works, please let me know!

      again, Skyrim VR is based of Skyrim SE 1.4.15
      mods for LE (ported for SE) may not work, and often times they need to be backported for VR or add a patch for VR compatibility

      I will try to get to use this mod next week, I'm returning to skyrim after 2 years since I've last played, I'll come back to share my findns

    Hi there - thank you for your mod - seems like a great concept!
    I have the mod installed, but running into a bit of a  problem.  i've picked up the book - but not getting the setting menu.  i just have the 'spell', and when i select it to use, nothing happens. i cant wield or use it. the settings are also not in MCM.

    i have tried the save, exit, disable, load, save, enable method.  but that didnt solve the problem.

    am i being stupid?

      Hello phalen,

      No you are not! Right now there is no MCM menu for the mod. Once you read the spellbook it should show up in your Powers in the Magic menu. You can then press the key you use to shout (by default it's the "Z" key) and then the menu should come up.

      I'm sorry you're having issues with my mod! It doesn't alter or check for anything regarding the horn. Could you please give me more detail on what you are trying and the settings for my mod that you're using? By default the amount of dragon souls you need to spend to receive a perk point is 5. It also doesn't let you spend perk points to get souls.

      Ok so I'll update the description to clarify this but the mod's file types is still ESP but it is flagged as an ESL mod. It basically means you can still configure the load order like a "normal" ESP mod, but the game treats it like an ESL mod and it does not count towards the 255 .esp mod limit.

    If I was allowed to install only one mod, I would install this one. Also had no issues installing mid playthru.

      I have not personally experienced any issues installing in a middle of my playthroughs and I haven't heard from anyone having issues with it either. If you do have issues I'd try disabling my mod and then creating a clean save before enabling it again, then if you still have issues give me a heads up! I have had some reports of conflicts but nobody has given me their load order for me to investigate. In the case that you do have issues, if you can provide that as well that would be awesome! (You can PM me if you don't want it public)

    is there a way to make it give more than 1 perk point per soul instead of costing more souls per perk point? it would also be cool to make soul cost and the perk points you get each be affected by conjuration and/or enchanting skill... id like to personally make it enchanting skill but some would argue the conjuring skill should effect how many souls you need or both skills even. i think a skilled enchanter could have a higher magnitude of received perk points, rounded down

      Thanks for the suggestions! I don't have access to my source files right now. But I was working on an MCM menu for the mod to add more customization options. As for why that wasn't a feature from the beginning: I felt it might have been a little overpowered if you could get more than one perk point per dragon soul absorbed. I know there's a ton of skill tree and perk overhauls now and I can see why that might be helpful to people who use mods like that. I'll keep that in mind as I flesh out everything. I might need to just rewrite the mod from scratch to add the amount of configuration and customization I was planning to but I really appreciate your suggestions, and everyone else's!

      I have a lot of personal obligations and I don't get to spend as much time working on the mod as I like to. Especially since there are a few
      things I need to fix! I'm sorry it'll take a bit but I'm slowly but surely working on it!

      Oh and shhh... this is a secret! (not meant to be an official announcement or anything lol still gotta do some work on it)

      ok i got this reason in 10 years way to often.... what the hell ar you guys doing wiht your modding stuff? make the mod and throw your files away? i watched over 400 mods and like 150 modder got that as reason to not go on. i begin belive this is just en false excuse.

      You are right, although it's more of a "tldr" excuse because for me it's a combination of trying to recover stuff from a bad hard drive, busy life stuff, and some family health issues going on that I don't want to get into that's making it hard to make the time to work and make any more progress past poking around or trying to help in the comments.

      I made the decision that I will just remake it from scratch if I can make the time to. I'm sorry for your frustration! I have spent some time trying to learn how to make an MCM menu but it's a little more involved than writing a couple lines and stuff. Which is one of the reasons I made the decision that I'll start from scratch.

      Lol unfortunately I'm not a deadbeat in college anymore and time is hard to come by with the other stuff going on in life.

      Again, sorry for the frustration and I hope I'll be able to work on things soon.

      Thank you for trying to stick up for me and other mod authors, and also your understanding! I understand that Eisklinge20's comment seems a bit harsh, but meeting that with more harsh words most likely won't help either. I know people enjoy my mod, in addition to many more mods, and would like to see updates sooner rather than later... (I mean just look at whenever an update for Cyberpunk comes out... I feel for those guys!)

      While I hope he wasn't actually mad AT me, at the end of the day it comes from a place of enjoying and being enthusiastic about mods and (potentially) my mod in particular. I chose to look at it more that way rather than him being legitimately angry, or attacking me, or whatever. I hope that my reply to his comment didn't make anyone feel sorry for me or compel anyone to come to my defense as this definitely wasn't the intention!

      TBH if I was a little better at managing my time I probably could have had things finished and a couple patches out by now... things come up though as I'm sure all of us are aware. It's a little bit my fault too. Thank you so much for commenting and I hope you both don't take each other's words (or even mine) so seriously and are enjoying the mod, and modding in general!

      I swear, I'm a big boy and can take the criticism! lol

      Sorry it took a bit to respond. As far as I'm aware, it should be compatible with Ordinator since it doesn't change any perks or the perk system at all. You just need at least 1 dragon soul to absorb for 1 perk point. I haven't tried my mod with Ordinator personally so I'm not saying there aren't any compatibility issues. Can you let me know what isn't working with either when you have them enabled? I'll try to do some testing as soon as I can but won't be able to for a week or two.
