Just a heads up - apparently Bethesda have disabled the random vampire attacks in towns now with their latest update, and so if you have the latest updated version of Skyrim SE, then that means no more vampire attacks at level 8 and I can't see why this mod is needed anymore in your playthroughs. All this mod would do if you had it in your mod list is delay when Durak or a guard tells you about Dawnguard (not really necessary to delay imo, it was only the random vampire attacks that were annoying)
* For those folks that don't update their SE version because of CC content or whatever, this mod is still useful to delay vampire attacks.
F.A.Q.
Q. Will you be doing a delayed start for the other dlc.
Yes for Dragonborn, its available here. No, for Hearthfire.
Q. I've installed your mod but i want to start Dawnguard earlier than expected.
For those folks that have installed Dawnguard Delayed and feel they want to start the questline earlier than anticipated---don't remove/disable the mod or use console commands. You can do it 2 ways -
1) Easiest way--Travel to Fort Dawnguard (through Dayspring Canyon cave near Riften), and the quest will begin when you meet that guy standing at the riverbank wanting to also join the Dawnguard, or go speak with Durak who's shooting his crossbow near the campfire. This works at any level (even level 1 infact)--thanks to Mickmaan for the info.
2) If you're playing a more immersive playthrough and want to be told about Dawnguard from a guard or Durak visiting you rather than travel there (cos your character wouldn't know about the hidden fort and vampire attacks etc), then use this tool below, SSEEdit, and open my mod up in that, change the 2 numbers I've altered, and then save my mod. For example, if you've installed the esp for level 50 and your character is say lvl 35 and you want to start early, open up my mod in SSEEdit, change them to the 2 numbers above your current level, 36 and 37 (lower number is when vampires start attacking, higher number is the start of the Dawnguard questline), and save, and continue your game as normal. The next time you level up to lvl 36, vampires will attack, and at lvl 37 the Dawnguard questline starts (either a guard tells you about Dawnguard or you get a visit from Durak).
I got a question, I'm a Fallout fan who recently got into elder scrolls.
I just finished Oblivion, after Daggerfall and Morrowwind. Never played Skyrim before. I found that DLC delayers are fantastic for pacing the story especially for Oblivion and Fallout 3.
Any recommendations on which of these I should pick for my first playthrough of Skyrim?
It depends at your "playing style". Heartfire - you can build houses outside cities (none, one, .... or become a real estate mogul). Dragonborn - a story DLC, main quest is pretty "linear". Dawnguard - a story DLC also, but with different endings (not "good or bad", but more about what you want).
imo only dawnguard cause the dragonborn dlc doesn't affect the world, but dawnguard starts automatically when you meet one of the dawnguard in any of the cities in skyrim and it destroys the hall of vigilants (a place near windhelm)
No, per say., in a way it does until what level or setting this is to go off at, then upto that point the hall will still be available , but once he's spoken to u , and u visit he hall it will be destroyed!
Can i add this (lvl 50 version) to my mod list and use it with my lvl 50 character who has already completed the Dawnguard quest line? I don't wanna have to switch it on and off again the whole time when i switch between this one and my new character.
I deleted the level 30 version and got the level 20 version and then booted up an existing save. Every npc is now hostile to me. When I redownloaded the level 30 version and deleted the level 20 version then booted up that same save, everyone is STILL hostile. Wtf?
I use the mod even that it's not needed to prevent vampire attacks because I prefer not to get quests long before I can or want to do them, but that might be just me. I also like having the original Hall of the Vigilant around for a bit longer, the destroyed building you get later it's not even the same building. One of them offers training it restoration and smile a bit at them when they claim to be hunting vampires even that they clearly can't spot one.

What level would be recommended?

What will happen if I installed the mod after level 10, yet haven't spoken to Durak?
