Note: We ignore all comments that are covered by the mod description. Read that before commenting.
For those who have an empty BodySlide when using Vortex:
    1. Make sure you've followed the instructions. Do not open BodySlide from Vortex's mod folder. You're meant to open it from your actual game folder.
    2. Make sure you've installed a compatible body mod, such as CBBE.

On game versions BodySlide & Outfit Studio is not a mod. It is two, standalone, combined utilities that allow you to easily edit/create meshes. Thus, they work for every version of the game. Only SKSE-dependant mods, such as RaceMenu and physics mods, will have issues with new updates, and only mods that have plugins will have issues with the very latest versions of the games.

On Starfield: Bethesda has done some things that make BS/OS for Starfield more complicated. Check Ousnius' Discord for updates.

    BodySlide Walkthrough:
    Spoiler:
    Show

Yes, it's rather wordy, but make sure you read it all through once before following it. Guide has 'CBBE' as the default body as that is what I use. See the mod description for other compatible body mods. Scroll to the bottom if you just want to know about the in-game sliders.

    1. Install BodySlide according to the installation instructions for your mod manager (see mod description).

    2. Install CBBE and the body/outfit BodySlide files that come with it. Installation instructions are in its description.

    a. (Optional) Install other BodySlide-compatible outfit mods if you want them to fit your preset (Check CBBE mod list).

    3. Launch BodySlide. Go to Skyrim Special Edition/Data/CalienteTools/BodySlide. Double-click on BodySlide.exe/BodySlide x64.exe to open the utility. If using Vortex, you should also open from this location through your manager.

    4. At the top, in 'Outfit/Body' select one of the bodies. CBBE Body/CBBE Body Physics/CBBE Body Special are 'nude'. The CBBE NeverNude/CBBE Underwear bodies have underwear meshes covering all nudity. Ensure you have installed XPMSSE if you use the CBBE Body Physics/Special body.

    5. In the 'Preset' dropdown, select a preset, or leave it as it is and simply start moving the sliders around. Low-weight is the body at '0' in the in-game weight slider, while high weight is at '100'. You can type numbers into the boxes if you want to use negatives (put in a - before the number) or go over 100%, but going outside the 0-100 range is not recommended as it can cause distortions or bad clipping with outfits. If you have a shape in mind, it's usually a good idea to start with a preset closest to your desired shape.

    6. Click on 'Preview' at the bottom to open the preview window. The mesh shape will change as you move/edit sliders. The bar at the top of the preview window reflects the shape you'll get with the in-game weight slider. You can right-click-and-drag the model to rotate it, and left-click-and-drag to move it around the window without rotating. Scroll-wheel to zoom also works.

    7. Once you're happy, click on 'Save As' next to the Preset drop-down. 'Save' will overwrite the current preset selected. Warning: You can not 'undo' Save. If you Save by accident, you will need to reinstall the original preset file/you will lose the original preset if it has no backups.

    8. Type in a name for your preset in the box that pops up, and check the boxes for what 'groups' you want your preset to appear in. Always select the 'CBBE' group so it appears for all installed compatible outfits.

    9. Click Save. BodySlide will open a window to the BodySlide/SliderPresets directory. Click Save again. You preset will now appear in the 'Preset' drop-down menu.

    b. (Optional) If your aim is realism and you made a nude body with gravity, make a second preset just for outfits/NeverNude/Underwear, removing any/most gravity from your 'nude' preset, and applying cleavage/pushup/flatness etc. You can look at the 'CBBE Slim (Outfit)' and 'CBBE Curvy (Outfit)' presets made available for all underwear and clothing styles for ideas to make it look realistic for both small and large breast sizes, respectively.

    10. (Only one preset? Skip to 11) With CBBE Body/Body Physics/Special selected in the 'Outfit/Bodydrop-down menu, and your preset selected in the 'Preset' drop-down, click on Build. This will automatically install the unclothed nude body meshes. Make sure you have at least XPMSSE installed if you use the Physics or Special body.

    c. (Optional) If you made edits to the wrist/ankle sliders, be sure to build CBBE Feet/Hands/Hands Beast with your preset selected as well.

    d. (Optional) If you have a lot of outfit mods installed, and/or only want to see/build meshes for certain ones (such as physics-only meshes), you can use the GroupFilter and OutfitFilter options at the top of BodySlide to narrow down the selection. Just click on the magnifying glass, 'Choose Groups', and select what you want. Again, only what is selected will have the option to build meshes for them. Leaving these Filters alone will mean you have the option to build everything.

    11. With your (outfit) preset selected, click on BatchBuild. This will allow you to generate multiple meshes instead of the single one that Build creates (just as it says when you hover over it). Uncheck anything you don't want built (e.g. if you did step 10 above, you don't want/need CBBE Body/Body Physics). You can right-click this window and choose to Select all/none/invert select if desired. Do not build any Physics meshes if you don't have at least XPMSSE installed. Note that if there are two or more options for a certain body/outfit (e.g. CBBE Body/Physics/NeverNude/Underwear all change the same thing, the in-game unclothed body), you will get another window listing these meshes to select which options you want generated.

    12. Click Build. BodySlide will automatically install the outfit meshes into the correct directories.
Now the outfits will be the shape of your preset.

Note: Pay attention to the tool-tips. If you CTRL+Click the Build button, the meshes will generate inside the BodySlide folder. If you CTRL+Click the BatchBuild button, you can choose a directory to install all of the meshes you generate. You will most likely need to utilise this if you are using a custom race and need to install meshes manually.

In-game sliders/RaceMenu Morphs: When installing CBBE, you will have an option for 'RaceMenu Morphs'. This allows you to use the BodySlide sliders in-game for your player character only, using RaceMenu, and the RaceMenuMorphs.esp. But, this still requires some use of BodySlide; open BodySlide, select a body/outfit and preset (which NPCs will use, and which will be the starting point of your in-game preset), check the 'Build Morphs' box at the bottom of the BodySlide window, and then use the Batch Build option/button to generate all meshes.

MO2 - Neither  Bodyslide nor Fnis will run when I open them from their
executables. They appear in TaskManager as running but no popup or
    anything....

I followed GamerPoets instllation to a T and have at first had no issues but somewhere along the way they both stopped working.

I'm at  my wits end (BTW LOOT works as expected)

*Edit: I have resolved this same issue for myself. I could execute file, but not execute virtually or by pressing Run on MO.  I read through my
crash logs. MO 'hooks' Bodyslide successfully, the process shows as completed, and Bodyslide runs as a background process on my Task Manager.

It was just Bodyslide and Outfit Studio not executing virtually, but appearing as a background process on my Task Manager. Mod Organizer GUI begun also as a background process (but this is the GUI window that says "Mod Organizer is locked while the application is running"). This is visible, but no alt-tabs or otherwise bring up the Outfit Studio as an application.

After a week of researchand whiskey tears I fixed it, and it was in factone of the problems listed by MO devs. I found Citrix Workspace was still running services even after I thought disabled it. I ran a full uninstall on it, rebooted comp, and my Bodyslide works again. The light is shining down on this day.

      Sorry for the inconvenience

I am having an issue where when I change the preset only the outfit changes shape and the body remains the same on some outfits. Most work as intended but I have spent a few hours trying to figure this out. What am I missing? Thanks

There are several armors that i would like to create from some assets i collected.

Those assets are fbx files though and i have no clue how to turn those into functional meshes for Skyrim.

Is there some way i can use Outfit Studio to somehow convert them?  Or is it more involved than that?

      Oi!
      Bom dia!

Close the preview window? Or move it to the side, out of the way of the BodySlide window, as you would any other program.
Or did you open Outfit Studio instead of BodySlide? If so, open BodySlide and not Outfit Studio.

Has anyone ever experience where you use to wear a certain armor before and it work just fine but then all of a sudden the armor doesn't want to attach to the body anymore. I had tried to fix it by running the bodyslide on them but never manage to attach it back like it used to.

The first and main issue I have is how can I undo a batch build back to its vanilla look and shape as if it was never altered with the body slide cause I cant seem to locate the output folder? Also is there a way to convert the body slide for unp that does not need the skse as I have yet been able to get the skse to work for longer then 20 minutes on my system. Could you possibly make the body slide compatible with unp as well or make one just for unp for those that prefer that body type? I run teenage characters as I have the childhood mod that gives that option. They would not be as well developed as the cbbe body is. Or maybe make a new body type all together that has from small unp up to the fullest body of cbbe and have a wider range of movement in the body slide sliders? As they are lacking in many areas such as being able to bring the breasts closer together so they look more realistic and being able to give the character a flat stomach. As it is now I can only adjust the lower stomach but there is still a not so flattering belly that I can not make flat. I was also wondering how to make the body slide changes character only rather then global? As I dont wish to change all the npc's outfits or bodys in the game just my character and what she wears no matter what she may pick up and wear, I have a mod that changes the armor and clothing of the npc's as it is and would rather they keep that look then have them wearing the not so nice full vanilla outfits that building with the body slide puts them back into, Any help or information on these topics would be very helpful thank you, I have read your wiki and there is nothing in there covering any of these questions that I was able to find, I do understand if many of the options I spoke of are not possible or far to complex to do with out skse. But if I dont ask I cant learn and one of the ideas I ask of could possibly give you or others ideas of things they can try to do in the future. Again I thank you for any help, advice or thoughts you may give.

      Holy wall of text, batman!

"how can I undo a batch build"
Read the tooltips. Hold Alt while clicking BatchBuild. Or if you use MO2, you can just delete the output folder.

"convert the body slide for unp"
BodySlide is a tool. You don't make it compatible with body mods, you make body mods compatible with it. The 'unp' that is BodySlide compatible is BHUNP.

      "does not need the skse"
What does the script extender have to do with anything? It's irrelevant.

      "...body slide compatible with unp..."
      See above.

"not be as well developed as the cbbe body is"
I take it you've never looked at CBBE, or have only ever seen those over the top presets that get posted? CBBE Curvy is comparable to the default UNP body, although with better proportions (less top heavy, thicker waist, more natural breast shape). CBBE Slim is comparable to UNP Slim, again with better proportions. And BodySlide lets you make any shape you want.

      "...new body type..."
The last thing we need is yet another body mod. Look at what's available. Pretty much any BodySlide-compatible body mod can go from super-slim to over-the-top.

"how to make the body slide changes character only"
Use RaceMenu morphs. And SKSE64 isn't irrelevant here, as it's required for RaceMenu morphs. But, SKSE64 by itself doesn't cause issues, so your problem lies with other mods, most likely.

I have removed every mod I have trying to get skse to work and I still get the same issue with it, At this point I think it is an issue with my system more then anything else so I am trying to do thing with out skse. I also do not feel the proportions are better for my intent as Im trying to make my teenage characters look as if they are teenagers. As for my adult characters I do agree they are more fitting. The bad thing is that the armor I have is uunp or unp not bhunp and I have not found it in bhunp so I am trying to find a way to make the unp show up in the body slide with out having to do the conversion I found that needs the skse or to have someone else do it and make it a stand alone mod that doesnt need skse if possible. for me I feel it would be easier if I was able to do it my self if there is a way to do it so I am looking for more information on that. I also feel you can never have to many options and even more so when it comes to the shape of a human body. Not all fit into a premade group of well figured male or female so I feel it would be good so have many different kinds of body slide options for people to use and pick from or one that can cover all the different body types and then some. Keep in mind those are simply my personal thoughts on it and in no way am I trying to push them on others. I have also had CBBE on skyrim v and skyrim SE up till 5 years ago when I finally got feed up with not being able to get a more realistic smaller body with CBBE as slim is not slim enough and there is no small option that is truly small. My end goal is basic, it is to have my character's bodys perfectly match the body they have while dressed in their unp outfit but with some gravity effect along with being able to adjust chest size while dressed. For that I need a body slide. I will be getting a new system in a few months so I hope to fix many of the issues I am currently having with this one then. I do thank you for your reply and any other information people are willing to give.

      Oi!
      Bom dia!

      amberdyer

      https://skyrimcommands.com/command/setscale

      1- Cria um Novo Jogo;

      2- Escolha o lado dos Imperiais;

      ---

      Hey!
      Good morning!

      amberdyer

I don't know if you noticed, when you create a New Game, your Character already has a Teenage Body, be it a Male or Female Model. This means that your Character is using the CBBE Slim Body.

What will accentuate the appearance of a Teenager in the NPC is the setscale Command. With this Command you can determine the Age of the Teenager NPC (like a ladder).

      https://skyrimcommands.com/command/setscale

The recommendation you should consider is to use this setscale Command once on the Teenager NPC. This is to avoid any problems in the future.

      As for the clothes...
It is not necessary to obtain clothes from BodySlide, as the clothes also change size along with the Teenager NPC's Body. And the Body Slide does not use SKSE64 to be used. This means that you can wear any outfit on Steam, as well as Follower NPCs.

What procedure should you follow to avoid future problems…

      1- Create a New Game;

      2- Choose the side of the Imperials;

3- When the Imperial NPC unties your Character, then you do the Setscale Test on your Character (showracemenu Command) and determine the sizes you like, for each Age of the Adolescent NPC.

4- Testing is complete… exit this New Game and open another New Game to Play.

That's what I would do, if I had to play with Teenage NPCs.

      Thank you for your attention

Using Outfit Studio with Oblivion(FO3/FNV probably as well) to merge parts it changes them from a NiTristrips to a NiTriShape, NiTristripsData to NiTriShapeData, and NiSkinInstance to BSDismemberSkinInstance. You can stripify the NiTrishape and convert the BSDismember but that may cause a CTD in the game and straight exported it doesn't render.

Merging parts is needed if you have stacked alpha channels and want them all to work in the game. Lower layered ones may or may not show and if they do show they may or may not show at every angle making them blink in and out of existence. Using the same texture and with the proper order of the merge the game will show all of the alpha layers from all angles.
