About this mod

Not every super cool assassin organization wants to live in a filthy dark damp hole in the ground that has no real storage and not enough beds for everybody. Its time for the Sanctuary to become a proper base of operations

NOTICE:

This mod is not being developed any further for the foreseeable future and is a public "as-is" download. This is because I'm actively working on a better sanctuary overhaul. If you'd like to see how development is going you can find the occasional update on Youtube check out my FB posted screenshots.
2020 Edit: Patch collection for SSE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/34909  There is no patch collection for LE that I know of.

The Dark Brotherhood quest is a pretty good one. But the end result is pretty underwhelming. You end up with a sanctuary that is filled with dust and fungus and doesn't have enough beds for everyone. It is an unlivable living space, and this is after you poured all your money into fixing it up!
This is a mod that enhances the Dawnstar Sanctuary at the end of the DB questline with over 7,000 endorsments! I've gone though each section of the sanctuary and made the place have an air of realism; this is a sanctuary in a cold region (fireplaces and rugs) that a bunch of people are communally living in (they all have beds now). I've also added three new Dark Brotherhood NPC's (two of which can be followers using VVE or RDO), more storage space, more crafting stations, and a working shrine to Sithis.

Installation Pre-Questline:
  • Requires nothing extra. Use NMM to download and install mod or download file manually.
  • Load the game and progress through the Dark Brotherhood Questline.

Installation Post-Questline:
  • Remove of all items you want to keep from the Sanctuary before installing this mod.
  • Move to another internal world space, like a tavern or a house.
  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key, then type "resetinterior dawnstarsanctuary" press enter, and then type "pcb" and press enter. (This will reset the sanctuary and clear your game cache so the mod can work appropriately.)
  • Save game and exit. Use NMM to download and install mod or download file manually.
  • Load the game and then open the console by pressing the "~" key, then type "resetinterior dawnstarsanctuary" press enter, and then type "pcb" and press enter.
  • Visit your new sanctuary. If anyone seems confused, open the console, click on them and type "resetAI". If anyone is stuck, open the console, click on them and type "moveto player" this will free them.

Uninstallation:
  • Load your game, dismiss any DB followers and proceed to remove of all of your items you want to keep from the Sanctuary.
  • Leave the sanctuary, go to another interior cell and type "resetinterior dawnstarsanctuary" press enter, and then type "pcb" and press enter.
  • Save your game and then uninstall the mod using NMM or remove files manually.

Compatibility:
This mod should be placed below any lighting mods since I tweaked the lighting myself, but do whatever looks best to you. This mod uses modders resource packs, if you have any other mods that use the same assets NMM or your computer might ask you to overwrite some meshes or textures, this is ok.

  • Babette has been edited to wear custom DB clothing. You can override this safely with a Babette mod if you want.
  • Most mods that add NPCs to the sanctuary will largely be compatible, including The Dark Brotherhood Resurrection Part 1 by Jake Washenfelder.
  • Mods that extend or edit the DB main quest should be completely compatible.

This mod is provided "as is" for the foreseeable future. Any time I have for modding is going towards Awake: Rise of Mannimarco and newer works.
