That's just because it doesnt have a set, Ebony Mail is different than Ebony Armor as far as I've found. Someone would need to make a mod specifically to fix the issue or make an entire set for the mail.
@DEX11 Don't know what to do about upgrading. I'll see if I missed something in the creation kit. EDIT: I am not seeing the upgrade thing and I have no clue how to set it up with the light armor perk things. If anyone knows, please post your method so I can fix this.

I like the armor, but the black, wispy smoke effect is driving me crazy! It gets in my eyes and makes it impossible to see what I am shooting at. Is there a way to turn it off or at least down?
