I dont know if you guys know, but I updated the mod to remove the chinguard, and added a bit better metal reflection on the helms.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys it means a lot!

For some reason removing this mod makes it impossible for me to load a save without it crashing to desktop instantly and using this mod results in invisible helmets. I've run every patcher and cleaned save before and after and again but I just play without the mod activated and the invisible helmets making people look bald.

I have the same problem with Guard use vanilla open helmets, but before that mod, the guards looks with bald heads without the respective helmet, i can speculate that is because for the mod Cloacks of Skyrim, but i have the conflict because i won't to delete or deactivate that, and the other mod works well, but just leave the vanilla guard helmet to various Stormcloacks, looking these bald. If there another solution I will be very grateful

For anyone wondering why this mod needs an ESP file, that's because the guards' heads aren't actually rendering when they're wearing their helmets in the vanilla game. So if you delete the ESP you change that behavior and would basically get a bunch of guys without heads because the game considers their head "obscured" by the helmet.

I wouldn't have expected something small like this to be so mandatory in any playthrough.

So, i am new to modding and i was trying to use this mod, but i dont understand nothing about Bash Patches or how to make these things work. First i tried installing it trough the mod manager, and it wouldnt appear in game. So i tried installing it manually, but now my game is crashing. And, for me at least (i dont know if i am an idiot or something) that tutorial wasnt working. I just really wanted to play this game with mods and wanted more information on installation and such things. Sorry about any English mistakes and i thank any one who would be willing to help me

Ok...after messing around for far too long I seem to have version 2.0 working.

If 2.0 is giving your guards bald heads and no helm try this.

Open the file helm_open.nif in NIFScope http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope

Do not edit the file...simply save it overwiting the original and try it out...don't now why but it worked for me.

My guess is something is glitched with the version he uploaded

I had the bald no helm problem too. I am using Mod Organizer and I think the way MO installs mods breaks something.
      Install OGH through MO.
Then locate the downloaded zip file.
"Wherever you installed MO":\ModOrganizer\downloads\Open Face Guard Helms Current-9514-v2-0.zip.
Unzip that to "Wherever you installed MO":\ModOrganizer\mods\Open Faced Guard Helmets\
You MUST be asked to overwrite. If not, you are at the wrong place and should leave immediately unless you want an arrow to the knee. (Sorry. I couldn't resist)

I can confirm that SpazTwit's solution for MO works. I'm really glad, too, because this is an amazing mod.

Why have an esp when you can just replace the vanilla model? That way it will also be compatible with any mods that makes changes to guards, like Requiem for example.

Emm, so someone have to delete the .esp only?
Perhaps do you know if I have to install the mod after anything else? (cause another texture mod could touch the same .dds file?)
