    It works with the ENB .dll file but i get EXTREME fps drops in foggy areas D:
    EDIT: Solved FPS loss by using the .dll file from an old ENB version (ENBSeries v0.119)

    Not helping at all.. I'm getting striping like crazy, mostly on rocks like a mountain side. I've tried changing the ShadowBias to 1-2, not change. This is driving me nuts! It goes away when I walk close to the rocks with the stripes

    Some clarification of what these codes do; (I'm a game-developer with background as a light-smith for films. I've tested each of these codes individually since this game came out - in order to really know what each code actually does.)

    [Display]

    iShadowMapResolution=4096 (Size of ENTIRE memory-pool used for shadow-texture distribution on surfaces)

    iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=4096 (Size of memory-pool used for secondary shadow LOD-textures on surfaces PAST the "iBlurDeferredShadowMask" range)

    iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=4096 (Size of memory-pool used for primary shadow LOD-textures on surfaces BEFORE the "iBlurDeferredShadowMask" range)

    fShadowBiasScale=0.6000 (The ANGLE the Shadow-maps are aligned to surfaces. Anything from 0.3 - 0.6 is recommended)

    iShadowMaskQuarter=3 (How many Quarters of an object are being visually aligned to the players viewpoint. 3 = 75% standard, 4 is FULL. No need for more because 4 = 100% coverage)

    iBlurDeferredShadowMask=10 (The amount of blurring added to shadow-edges. 0=Sharpest with ZERO blurring, making shadows very choppy. 5 is standard. I recommend a value of 10 so that shadows seen up-close are still 'soft' around the edges.)

    fShadowDistance=3000.0000 (Distance of shadow-maps displayed to the player, highly recommended values are; 2000=Low, 3000=Medium, 4000=MAX, but no higher since you lose quality the further away shadows are drawn, and most of the landscape of Skyrim was designed with hills and other surfaces to 'mask' these shadow-transitions.)

    fInteriorShadowDistance=8000.0000 (This value determines the distance to player that lights are displayed to DRAW shadows, therefore if this value is below 8000, then players will see lights flashing on & off in dungeons and other interiors. Changing this value to smaller numbers does NOT improve shadow-quality, this is strictly a light-draw-distance factor, so leave it at 8000.)

    iShadowFilter=3 (Recommended value of 3, since 4 causes 'Crash To Desktop' on some machines)

    fShadowLODStartFade=200.0000 (This is the number that changes the quality of a shadows appearance up-close, the smaller the number, the better the resolution. Tested extensively to be best at 200, since 100 is too short a range and doesn't start drawing for the players point-of-view until 200.)

    iShadowMode=3 (Recommended value of 3, since 4 is buggy in some areas, particularly around waterfalls which will be either too-bright or too dark)

    bTreesReceiveShadows=1 (Self-Explanatory)
    bDrawLandShadows=0 (Self-Explanatory) OFF = CAUSES STRIPING
    bDrawShadows=1 (Self-Explanatory)

    bShadowMaskZPrepass=1 (This prepass ensures the active blending of shadows onto textured surfaces and is used to handle the value of 'iShadowMaskQuarter'' with the game-engine. It is not required, but DOES add realism if you have the machine to handle it.)

    UPDATE: FOV really can make or break shadows, Use in-game at console; "FOV 120" and then "FOV 90" to see how it changes them.

      Thank you for posting this, i changed all the setting to those values and it looked pretty good. i then checked out Defosh369's info on it and found some of his numbers are quite a bit different from yours. so i played with the numbers and found a happy medium between them using setting from both of you to make my game look very good and run very smooth. thanks for all the work and help in this

      Wow, I had NO IDEA this helped so many people - you are all very welcome!

      Although some of the codes now seem to be unused by the updated version of Skyrim - so here are some new updates from me to help you get the most out of your game; (The following makes shadows sharper and therefore do not display as far as before, but the transitions are mostly hidden while outdoors thanks to more grass!)

      1) Get the 'Grass on Steroids' MOD here on Nexus, it's fantastic to have more grass over more surfaces outdoors to help camouflage the shadow transition changes. And then there's your SkyrimPrefs.ini (usually located here: " C : \ Users\(YOUR USER NAME HERE)\Documents\my games\Skyrim)" Open the file with Note-pad, Here are some updated changes to try;

      [Display]
      fDefault1stPersonFOV=110
      fDefaultWorldFOV=110
      fDefaultFOV=110

      iShadowMode=4

      iShadowMapResolution=4096

      fShadowBiasScale=0.6000
      iShadowMaskQuarter=4
      iShadowFilter=3

      bShadowMaskZPrepass=0

      bDeferredShadows=1

      bShadowsOnGrass=1
      bDrawLandShadows=0
      bTreesReceiveShadows=1

      iBlurDeferredShadowMask=3

      fLightLODStartFade=8000.0000

      fSpecularLODStartFade=4000.0000

      fInteriorShadowDistance=8000.0000

      fShadowDistance=2048.0000

      iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=4096
      iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=4096
      iShadowSplitCount=2

      fGamma=1.0000

      bFloatPointRenderTarget=1

      iPresentInterval=1

      [Grass]
      b30GrassVS=1
      iMinGrassSize=50
      bAllowLoadGrass=0
      bAllowCreateGrass=1
      iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure=7
      fGrassStartFadeDistance=13000.0000
      fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance=14000.0000
      fGrassMinStartFadeDistance=0.0000

      _______

      Ok - now start up Skyrim - and open the console while in-game and type; "fov 90". (Without the quote marks of course) that's all for now, hope this helps!

      Thank you, thank you, thank you - this has gotten rid of all outdoor shadow striping for me (a bit of a performance hit on my older hardware here, but worth it just not to see grilled mountainside sandwiches). I might try to adjust down the memory pool and draw distance a tad, but other than that it has worked miracles.

      Downloaded whole bunch of mods manually and none seem to fix anything.
      Then i made shadow quality to ultra,it didn't fix it,but it softened up a bit.
      And finally after reading your comment and editing the codes you posted fixed everything!
      You are a true savior!

    There is still some shadow striping around Pinemoon Cave to the west of Solitude, where one gets sent by the vampire court wizard to eliminate the vampire den within. Other than that, the striping seems to be fixed as far as I can tell. If I find any other areas that have the ugly shadow striping bug, I'll be sure to post them here. Endorsed!

    So the .esp with this mod seems to break werewolf transformations, you get werewolf body parts but it doesn't fully transform. I disabled only this file and it works fine now.

      Go to your skyrimprefs.ini and change this setting

      fShadowBiasScale=0.6000

      That will fix all the outdoor shadow striping. As for indoor, I have researched it quite a bit and its not as easy as a fix as the outdoor shadows and happens to be caused by the poor engine that Skyrim uses. Some people claim mods like this work and others dont see a difference. Good luck

    hi, I did have to reinstall skyrim and so I had to do the ini tweaks again all well exept thing tough (simply forgot how to fix this and can't find it on the net) vertical stripes on rocks that are moving and stopping and so one with some lines darker then the other, so a fix would be great yall.

    cheers
