brilliant idea. suggestion: make the merchant into a hot female of some sort, make it carry(a insane amount) more money so i can sell some really expensive item, not hostile to stage4 vampire player. also make the merchant combat capable, maybe some sort of destruction mage.
NO THIS IDEA IS FOLLY, THE GAME WONT LET A MERCHANT SELL IF HE HAS OVER 30K, MAKE THE AMOUNT 20K, AND IF HE SPENDS IT MAKE HIM GET BACK THE20K THIS SOUNDS SAFE TO ME
BTW, the glitch amount is 32,768 gold. Go over that amount, and the merchant will stop selling properly. The key is to sell stuff first, then buy what you need. As long as the merchant's base amount isn't over 32,768, he'll actually give you money for your stuff.
@rahaney: I've had the same problem. Some mystery mod is causing this (not this one, as I've not installed it yet). I once uninstalled every mod and loaded Skyrim sans mods, and all the merchants were back to normal, but I've not yet pinpointed which mod it could be. None of the logical culprits seem to be it, as I've already disabled a few suspects.
If anyone else knows which mod does this to some merchants, please enlighten us!
In the meantime, console command, click on the uncooperative merchant, and type sbm, which forces open their merchant menu (even works when they're dead asleep). You can do this to anyone, but non merchants won't have any money to buy stuff with. If you do this to someone you just trained with, they will, however, have the training money on hand, thereby allowing you to sell them your swag and get your training money back.
for those having trouble with the non responsive merchant.. isn't it just to uninstall the mod, make a clean save, and reinstall it again, and pick up the amulet again? should take like 2-3 minutes to do, loading times included -.-
