Alchemy Revival
The Ultimate Assassin Experience

Have you ever wondered why Alchemy was so underpowered compared to its counterparts, Enchanting and Smithing? Did you ever wish there was a mod out there to give it a little boost all the while respecting the lore and keeping the game balanced? Well you've come to the right place. This is exactly what I've been trying to do with Alchemy Revival - The Ultimate Assassin Experience.
Without further ado, here are the Mod Specs for this overhaul. All feedback welcome!

Features:

  • Jarrin Root sees its effects decreased by 75%, but remains by far the most potent poison in the game.
  • Some merchants now sell Jarrin Root in shady places, and for a costly price.
[5 merchants in total, 7 if you fit two special requirements]
Note: Be careful when handling pricey items like Jarrin Root. Bethesda still hasn't fixed their deep, hard-coded bug that makes merchants glitch out when they have 32,000 Gold Septims or more in their inventory. It is due to the data format Bethesda uses for this type of information. You can fix this by using this SKSE plugin, otherwise watch out not to let a merchant get more than 32,000 Gold Septims!

  • Added two new alchemy ingredients:
    • Harrada Root, a plant native to the planes of Oblivion where it grows both outdoors and in caves.
    • Kwama Glands, harvested on the eponymous insectoid creatures native to the province of Morrowind.
These are imported from outside Skyrim and can be found at some merchant's stall. Their effects are yours to discover.

  • The Poisoner perk makes poisons 35% more effective.
  • The Concentrated Poison perk allows you to make better-textured poisons which stay on your weapon a while longer
(Three levels: 2, 3, and 5 hits in a row).
  • Physician gives you a 35% bonus on potions you mix that restore Health, Magicka or Stamina.
  • Alchemist perk now allows you to create 25% stronger potions per level, up to 125% at level 5. (Instead of 20% per level previously.)
  • The ultimate alchemy perk, Purity, now has a second level increasing the potency of all potions by 25%

upon reaching level 100 and investing a perk point in the tree
  • The Sneak Tree's Archery Perk has been revamped, giving an exponential damage bonus on sneak attacks with bows.
You can invest up to 5 perk points in this perk, which will add up to 5 x damage when sneak shooting.
This light buff is counter-balanced by a heavy perk points investment. (Previously: 3 x damage for 1 Perk point)

"Oh gawd, how the hell do I install it?"

This mod can be installed just like any other Skyrim mod. Simply stick the ESP file in the Data folder and you're set.
If you don't want any toil and trouble installing it, just go ahead and use Nexus Mod Manager in the download section.

Oh, one more thing though - I went through a bit of work to make sure I'd fixed any incompatibilities with The Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch. Using it is recommended. If anything doesn't work in the mod, make sure you have  The USLEP installed before posting any comment ;)

Let me recap.

Required Mods:

Recommended:

  • Playing in legendary mode
  • SkyUI of course ;)

I personally use this mod along with ASIS and Combat Evolved, in Expert to Legendary difficulty.
Be aware that this setup puts you in a "one shot, one kill" situation, that some might dislike.

NOT recommended:

  • Any mod that gives you more perk points than you're supposed to have. (PerkPoint Potion, Ish's Souls to Perk, etc.)
Doing so will undo the balancing and might ruin your game experience.
  • Any mod/cheat giving you an unfair advantage (archery/sneak boosts,...) for obvious balancing reasons.
  • In terms of compatibility, this mod is virtually compatible with any well-coded mod that doesn't affect Alchemy and it's ingredients.

    Kudos:

I wanted to say a big "thank you" to all the modding community out there. Your hard work has given me the motivation to throw myself in the game and start making this mod - my very first one! I also wanted to thank you - yes, you! - for making it this far into the mod description. I really do hope it will meet your expectations. Please don't hesitate to throw some feedback in the comments section, good or bad, things to keep or throw away. That would be greatly appreciated!

    Enjoy!

    ~ Korndor

    To-Do List:
    • Add a feature to stop detection when you poison someone using the pickpocket perk.
