It's actually pretty easy to change the stats of these guys in the CK kit if you want. I upped their health and gave them perks for increased melee damage. I think I'm gonna buff their breath a bit next, I wanna make them more like "mage dragons" with higher breath damage and less physical damage/health compared to vanilla dragons. (Black/White dragons deal 130 with their breath, only 5 more than Legendary dragons.) I just hope it's safe to do this during a play through, but it should be fine since I'm just changing the damage of a few spells.

So I still can't figure out how to make the chromatic dragons replace the original ones. Can someone please help? Maybe convert them for me or tell me how? I saw a post saying to rename the meshes, but what to?

Could you comment on this mod's compatibility with DDC3 and Splendor? I have both installed as well as Wrye Bash and though you do say that they will mix in properly in the bashed patch, is there anything additional in relation to the aforementioned which you would like to share? Secondly, are the Dragonscale Armors added basically only retextures or do they have meshes as well? I have some skimpy armor replacers which use vanilla/modded textures and was wondering if if the mesh references would be changed, or only textures. I'm not sure how it all works so asking :)

About the meshes, each armor added uses their own mesh, they are on Armor\dragonscale\extraver\ folder. But the textures are linked from within the meshes, not in the armor records in the ESP file, so if you replace this meshes with your own, they will loose their colors and will all be the same. To patch it correctly you will need to:

1- Create "Alternate Textures" records in xEdit referencing the path of each texture per color.
2- Change the Armors records "meshes" to the vanilla Dragonscale armor mesh path (So they will share the INVENTORY model) Apply the created Alternate Textures (To have the correct color in INVENTORY)
3- Change the Armor Addon records "meshes" to the vanilla Dragonscale Armor Addon mesh path (So they will use your modded skimpy ones), and apply the new created Alternate Texture record (To have the correct color)
(It is a lot easier than it sounds, I will actually do this for my game, but I have to ask permission to upload the patch). If you don't care how the item looks in the inventory you can skip step 2.

As to the compatibility with other Dragon mods I do not know, but will look into it when I finish my mod list.

Edit: Added information as I am changing the armors right now xD

Figured I'd finally post this comment. These guys melee damage is too weak, any way to buff them up in the CK or something? (Again, just their melee damage.)

You can get embers from the chromatic dragons that give you spells based off their breath, but for this mod that's it. The mod page says they're 10% drop chance, but I've kill at least 40 or so different ones at this point and I've only ever found one. (Red) They drop, they're just SUPER RARE.

Can you encounter lower level dragons (Orange/Green/Etc.) at higher levels? If not I guess I can always spawn them, but I'd like to hunt for them first if possible before I resort to that.

Update: Yes, encountered an Orange Dragon at a dragon lair at around 44-45. It might have been spawned there from the start of the game, but I've seen a few reds mixed with my golds. Chances might just be really low.

Also I'd like to add how I admire how rare the embers are. I've killed a lot of these things and only found one red ember.

I'm loving this! So pretty and shiny! What ENB are you using? The saturation is great!
