Update 2.0 removes the need for esp file and starts to use the Music Overhaul structure with lots of more tunes

hey I was wondering about your 1.3 file. I want to know should I have both the main file AND activate 1.3 aswell?

There are all independent versions that contain everything, so either use the original or the 1.3 or any other. It contains everything that the original had but some extras as well, mainly battle tunes. If you feel like it's too much, you can return to the original version for the more compact experience.

As this mod adds music, i assume i need a patch for mods like Fantasy Soundtrack Project which i am using. Is there any tut how to do that? I assume its like this: Fantasy soundtrack project has tracks name like: exploring01-25 and same goes for yours? So it will simply overwrite each other? I need to check with which number track count ends in Fantasy Soundtrack Project and make a count continuation with your tracks?

Fantasy: exploring01-25 and then yours exploring26-30

If i am correct all i need is to unpack bsa and do it manually? Or i need to change esp as well?

I would like a patch aswell but for the withcer 3 music. Don't think they will work together or any music packs for that matter.

Sadly I'm quite a beginner when it comes to modding. Originally I presumed that Skyrim itself would know how to merge different mods but it seems that is not the case.

If one likes to make an own compilation I would go about it something like this:

Download and open Skyrim Creator Toolkit and follow this tutorial: Excellent how to for creating music mod

I would open an existing music mod which hopefully is the largest already working you need and make that as the active esp. Then follow the tutorial and add all the tunes in this mod (which you have extracted to Data/Music) as new tunes with distinct IDs and link them to the actual files. Then add these created tunes to right playlists (this is also described in the tutorial), mainly Exploration, Battle and Town.

Then save the modified mod and it should contain all the original tunes the "main esp" contained, amplified with the added tunes you defined and linked.

Thanks for sharing, I was also looking for a patch. I wonder if a mod merge would also work?
I really like your music! But the more music in my game, the better.

Somebody mentioned this tool: https://github.com/matortheeternal/smash/releases/tag/0.4.1 I haven't been able to test it yet, but with it I presume mod merging should be somewhat straight forward.

Dont forget that you could simply rename the tracks that comes from this mod and replace any tracks you dont like in fantasy soundtrack project.
That way you can combine multiple music mods with tracks you prefer without the need for patches or lot of music esp's.
So the author dont have to make patches for the 100 different music mods out there.
If you like every track from both mods then well...I guess a patch would be needed

Thank you so much this is awesome I have a old version and would love to update is it safe mid playthrough. I am asking because evryone says you shouldnt add, update, or even change your load order mid playthrough because it could break your save?

You should copy your old save to another folder to be safe. But there shouldn't be any trouble updating this mod.

Just wanted to give you a heads up.

The music adds to, or replaces, the music from Dawnguard? This mod seems to be for non-DLC vanilla Skyrim.

This shouldn't affect Dawnguard at least to my understanding. This mod just adds 28 new tune ids to the tune list and injects them into a couple of playlists.

From what I see in TES5Edit, Dawnguard.esm has its MUS locations renamed to your music files.

Ok, I think I managed to create a version of the mod that might work better with Dawnguard. However this version of the mod also REQUIRES Dawnguard and won't work without it. I'm just checking on the forums if it is normal process to update mods like this and leave the previous versions available for those who need the actual vanilla version or what is the right way to go about these kinds of updates.

Just a silly question - does load ordering matter? If you'd load this mod before Dawnguard, would it affect the situation?

You would post the new version as optional, stating it is for Dawnguard users (people pick one or the other to download). Leave the 1.10 version up for vanilla users. The ESP has to be loaded after the ESM (if there's a masterfile involved). NMM does that for us. In general, no way to load ESPs before ESMs, unless the ESPs are flagged as ESMs? I don't know for sure.

In theory though, reversing the load order would make the Dawnguard MUS locations over-ride your songs with its songs.

Gotcha! I uploaded the optional 1.2 version. Would you be so kind to test it and see if it works better with Dawnguard now? Let me know if there are still some problems and I try to learn to use the creation kit better

I tried 1.2 just now. It too is over-riding the Dawnguard music with different songs. I don't know how to use the Creation Kit, to be of more help, unfortunately.

I'm starting to feel like an idiot myself I have to see if I can understand what is going on, on the construction kit side of things everything looks right - DLC tunes are listed in the playlists and so on.
