Instructions to update from 1.3 or lower to 1.4 or higher With 1.3 or lower still installed, run console command: stopquest pyp_legendary. Save your game. Install 1.4 or higher.
I'm not sure why, but immediately after installing this mod, I started crashing within minutes of arriving at the Riften Stables, or Merryfair Farm. It's happened three times in a row over a span of 15 minutes, so I haven't even been able to test this. I installed it because Dravin and Synda kept dying during a dragon attack, but with this installed, I crash before the attack can even occur, usually sometime after I see the dragon, but before it becomes hostile.
I'll keep testing, but so far, it's looking like that crash is suddenly unavoidable, when before I installed this, I could go hours without a crash. :(
Same situation...i don't think it crashes at any specific points or during particular triggers...it just happens absolutely randomly! And mine happened even way sooner than first 15 minutes, more like 2 or 3 minutes tops...LOL It's when Ralof told me to search the bodies of two dead imperials for a key...It's literally very start of the game! Another crash happened near Whiterun, in the spot, where traveling Khajiit caravans usually stop by for a makeshift camp...once again - completely random...Skyrim is unplayable for me with this thing and i'm not even that much of a mod junkie, i just use a few smaller quality of life mods like Quick Loot, some improved gui elements here and there, UFO, Improved Night Eye mod, Faster Customizable Sleep time and Wearable Lanterns mostly just to make my game more convenient to play, everything else are just bug fixes...and none of those ever crashed my game in almost 70+ hours of playthrough i poured into it over a span of previous two weeks! But once i installed this it started crashing every couple of minutes...LOL ...Does anyone know any decent alternatives to this, which don't break the game or make it crash like there's no tomorrow?! LOL I just wanna get rid of important NPCs dying is all...i tried using Timing Is Everything mod, but after using it for a while it breaks more things, than worth keeping it for (which is not a lot for me imho...i just hoped it would solve the rnadom attacks on innocent civilians inside towns and settlements for me...but it ended up breaking so many more things, that i had to delete it...) I Tried forcing "Setessential" console command on every damned NPC i could possibly come accross, but i found it doesn't really stop them from randomly dying out of the blue, when i am in the opposite side of the map many hundreds if not thousands miles away...LOL I literally just stumbled upon two dead bodies of Whiterun Stables owners with couple of horses standing over their corpses after being far far away from Whiterun near Windhelm...LOL
Don't know if it's a mod conflict but in my game Narfi just got killed by a bear (with this mod installed). At least he is reunited with his sister now.
Not everyone play Dark Brotherhood a**hole murderers...i kill Astrid the first chance i get, then report to that Imperial captain of the guard in Dragon Bridge to wrap up the quest...I don't feel like killing poor innocent sobs...some people deserve it yes, but the problem with DB is that it doesn't descriminate in who to kill...they don't care if the person is good, bad, neutral...they just want him/her dead as long as it has contract over them...that's a huge NO from me! LOL
*sighs* i just wish someone released the mod already, that disables all the random hostiles appearing in outdoor areas attacking important NPCs...that means random dragons, thieves, vampires etc...the ones indoors i am not even concerned about, since there is nothing o nthe first place that would pose any threat to them by randomly popping out of nowhere...it's the outdoors ones, that are irritating! I'm getting sick and tired of receiving letters of condolences from Courier concerning NPCs, that die from unnknown cause i nthe opposite side of the map from where i am...i am well unaware, that there are mods that disable those separately, but most of them are either too pesky to deal with, bugged out or just don't work and break more than they actually help...like with that "Timed is everything" mod...which is in my game completely broken...
Half-serious or maybe 2/3-serious suggestion: Have an option to exclude some useless but exceedingly annoying NPCs from protection. I nominate Taarie and Nazeem.
You're not the only one, looking over on the sse side there's a list of NPCs this mod touches that it really shouldn't and it ends up breaking quests. The current list goes:
Alva Ancano Beitild Borkul the Beast Braig Duach Kaie Madanach Mercer Frey Nana Ildene Nepos the Nose Odvan Uraccen
And I'm sure there's more, author really should look into updating this
I've been using this mod for ages and just killed the Champion of Boethiah, and have previously killed most of the NPCs in the previous reply including (off the top of my head) Madanach, Mercer Frey, Nepos the Nose, Alva and Ancano. What you (and the previous poster) are saying doesn't even make sense, since this mod makes various NPCs protected, not essential.
I'm confused by comments saying someone is unkillable, because the difference between protected and essential is that protected NPCs can be killed by the player. So as long as the player is going to town on an NPC covered by this mod, they WILL die, or at least that's how it's supposed to work, right?
Was going to post this separately... Basically came to ask the same thing as Ayame, so basically the npc's this mod protects, Can still killed by the player, ?? Because I have sky wilde mod and stupid npc's try to attack them instead of running away , and could be just the npc' I need to speak to , but they're dead =/ ..
Tired of dead "important" npc's. Started another new game and walked from Falkreath to Riverwood and found the blacksmith Alvor already dead and a few other citizens plus a dead vampire... I'm giving this a try.
does this protect npc from falls? sometimes when i load a big cell like solitude or riften some npcs are spawned high in the air and fall to thier death
Is really annoying not being able to kill Anoriath since it's a Dark Brotherhood contract, tried TES5Edit but he doesn't die, that's 134 hours wasted trying to complete all quests with one character....
