NMM users having trouble installing - do a manual installation. Front page has NMM manual installation guide, FAQ forum has a full manual installation guide as well.
If you are new to modding, consider viewing Gopher's tutorials or use Google - there are any number of guides on how to mod Skyrim.
is this the mod that continuously causes npc's to repeat "good morning!" "whats so good about it?" "huh. well, good day!" cuz my god that is annoying haha im trying to track down what is doing that
What?? No? Why would it do that? Interesting NPCs is about adding new NPCs, not making Vanilla ones annoying. As for your issue, look for a mod that might alter NPC greeting distance because NPCs say those lines when you get close enough to them. If they're spamming their comments now it's probably because some mod makes them greet you from a mile away.
I use the reduced distance version since the npcs from this mod have things to say at times if you go near them, but you pretty much have to be breathing down their neck lol. (To be honest, I was worried that disabling it outright could lead to missing some important information, or break a quest or something :S)
im actually pretty sure its inconsequential npc's. in taverns you will hear sentence splicing and see events happen between people that happen so often its really immersion breaking... thanks for the quick reply
I was wondering if you could help me out. I think The Immortal Coil is broken for me. I can drop off the first note in the Shrine of Talos in Markarth, but when I go to the Silver-Blood Inn to ask the innkeeper to distribute the letter, there is no dialogue for that. I'm kind of a completionist, so this will really bug me if I can't complete this quest, is there any way you can help?
Yes for AFT, probably yes for LIAT. Read the "Follower Mods and 3DNPC" forum for AFT compatibility though, it may help you prevent issues that might crop up along the way.
Hey do you guys have an unessential mod for followers? If not, do you have a recommendation as to where I can find one? Thanks! And great mod. Endorsed!
AFT has an option like this. I just tested it out on Tikrid, but I believe it will not work on followers that are essential to quests (either that, or it's because of the sheer amount of writing/voice work put into some of the followers). I'm not sure if that changes after any quests associated with said follower are completed though, but I do know that Dagri'Lon can be killed.
I just did a prison break in whiterun and found the wispmother there. I was so happy because I can still find some great npcs! PS: her life is kind of boring.
You will post some of your wonderful images if hope. Images of Zora are always appreciated. INPCs is the Leviathan of Skyrim Mods. No, even better, it is the Moby Dick.
It helps to actually READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before starting on this - And BACK UP YOUR GAME before starting to mod. Modding is a do it yourself project. There is no foolproof way to mod. You WILL make mistakes and you WILL need to go back to an earlier version. As over a million (really) mod users who have downloaded and installed this mod are not seeing the problems some of you are having, you, not the mod author is responsible for what you do to your game.
Suggestions - back up the game NOW! before you have a problem. When you have a problem it's already too late. READ the readme and any other documentation that is available. There may be some important information there. If your game is not the Legal Steam version - please just take your silly problem elsewhere as we have no patience with pirates.
Some reason when i was installing animations and stuff i did LOOT, launched the game and the npcs were all gone any idea why? Installed immersive animations/duel sheath/XP32 Skele/Female facial animation.
It happened for me once or twice while I was using AFT back in the day, that is why I switched for Expanded Follower Framework that works all the time. There is whole "Follower Mods and 3DNPC" discussion under the forum tab, but if I understand you've already read it.
I think I've loaded the save from before I released the follower. For more thorough answer you'll need to wait till Unedjis shows up.
I did some digging and found out that you just need to have the AFT patch for INPCs installed all the time, and always hire and dismiss follower through normal dialogue and everything should work. More details here, or under the forums tab on AFT page in the discussion labeled "iNPC Addon".
The main reason I really use followers was the ability to customize what your follower wear, and the ability to "populate" your house to make it more lively with characters. Can I still do those things with EFF?
The EFF is great. Followers have separate Equipment of items what they wear or use and inventory where I usually drop ton of garbage when I cannot stand the walking speed anymore, you can set the home location so you can populate your home with interesting followers if you like There are distant commands, the cool new UI, adding spells and the relax function is cool too. There is a lot of things I like, recently I fell in love with the "tattoo function" which in conjunction with RaceMenu and Groovtama's XPMS skeleton extended can for example rotate the hammer on Gorr's back so it is no longer upside down, while my twohander is still correctly placed on my back. I can only recommend it.
If handled correctly (cf. guide in the forum you read), AFT and INPC work great together. However, you should be careful about relocating INPCs because certain quests will break if you do (for example Erevan during parts of Darkened Steel), in most cases breaking the follower along with it. This happens whenever an NPC is supposed to be somewhere for a quest but AFT's (or whatever mod's) "new home" feature overrides that. So I'd strongly advise you to keep INPCs at their default locations until you've done all quests they're involved in. For some "regular" followers that only appear in one quest (for example Vardath for Stolen Property), that's pretty quickly done with but others are involved in a number of the more central quests. Mostly these are the "super followers" (like Zora, Anum-La, Rumarin - full list at 3dnpc.com) that are super mostly because they're really involved in a lot of different things. To be safe, don't set new homes for them until you're sure you've done everything that involves them (you'll have to check the wiki at some point, I fear).
TL; DR: AFT/INPC doesn't necessarily break followers (it doesn't for me), just don't set new homes for INPCs. Rather populate your houses with Vanilla clutter NPCs or such made for this, like Vilja.
I use AFT + 3DNPC patch along with My Home Is Your Home v3.1 with no problems: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59914/?
Just be wary of what Unedjis said, though with MHIYH I believe you can reset the followers locations to default within the MCM menu (If you have Dawnguard, do not set a home location for Serana, or she will act odd during some scripted moments/cure quest.)
Yeah, I believe the new version of MHIYH has improved much in terms of compatibility. Still, I wonder how it'll behave if you set a home, then start a quest (like in your case Erevan, which confirmed the suspicion in the first place), THEN reset their home. Will that fix the quest and follower or will it remain broken, I dunno ...

- wait, save and reload to see if the option appears
- if it doesn't, type 'setstage arilwaenquest 5' to set the stage for the objective to get the innkeeper to distribute the leaflets
- if 5 doesn't progress the quest, try setstage 6 (to place the letter in Markarth's Talos temple)
PS: her life is kind of boring.
Might as well call Rumarin, Ishmael.

I will be using AFT with INPC. I really enjoy having followers to hang at my house while I go do a mission or so. Is there any way to do this?
The forum said that It would make my INPC follower UN-rehireable.... has anyone confirmed this is what happens?
Did you just "reset npc" to restart them to fix that? Because I can deal with that.

One more question, how is EFF in your experience?
