   anyway to do this for a game already in progress to have the clothing replace the base armor?

   Cool idea. There's a mod that makes all Housecarls begin with clothing instead of armor, but I don't think it randomizes them. I'm a big fan of random elements like that so once the file appears I'll give this a download.
