!!! CHECK YOUR LOAD ORDER! Always load this last if your using something like convienient horses or you won't get the most out of this mod !!!

I have had some really gorgeous screenshots shared with me but I notice that your textures have changed but not your meshes, so you've essentially still got the vanilla horse but in a different colour! The only horse that I have using the vanilla mesh is the one in Windhelm. It also means it makes my mod look like a copy of primitive horse breeds which it isn't, this mod uses it's textures with the authors permisson but this mod also changes the SIZE AND SHAPE of horses too....

Oh hey there, it's been awhile!

I'm back and now an open uni student studying programming, so naturally I'm looking back at my own mods wanting to put a bit of what I'm learning to practice. It may take time for updates to happen as having a full time job and studying from home is HARD but I'm feeling really passionate about wanting to polish my mods up a bit so expect updates over the next few months.

So here's what I want to happen for Unique Horses....

    - Port to SE (it works anyway off the bat but let's just cover all bases)
    - Maybe an MCM for choosing your own models and textures?
    - Maybe some horses are better at certain things? Also want this to toggle on and off. Simplicity is not a bad thing.
    - Definately want more "unique" horses. Like that one in the bandit camp near Whiterun, would be cool to adopt it.
    - And I really want it to be very compatible with other horse mods, like convenient horses, cart mods and the like.

    What are your thoughts folks?

If nothing happens by the summer, uni life and adulting has claimed another soul. Pray for me.

I wish you would add options where one could choose which model one wants, for example only having the riften or markarth horse replacer

this looks cool. but i dislike the saddle for shadowmere (im actuilly rather fond of the vanilla shadowmere) would you consider doing a version that only changes the non-unique horses?

one year later! lol If you go through skyrim-data-textures-actors-uniquehorses-saddles and delete ShadowmereImperialSaddle.dds the game will revert to the vanilla saddle for shadowmere. If you want to do the same with shadowmere herself then see the comment above for the file path.

damn i love this variety! but i sorta miss the vanilla look in some areas, as it's very rare, if not completely gone, w/ this mod. how might i go about removing this look from say a few select horses. like maybe make all whiterun horses look vanilla again. could i do that my tweaking something in tesedit?

Heya, I imagine you've solved this by now but I leave all my files loose so you can choose what you want your horses to look like, if you go through data-textures-actors-uniquehorses or data-meshes-actors-unique horses you can delete some of the meshes and textures you don't like and it will revert to the vanilla version. You could also for example take say a pink texture from another mod, rename it whiterun.dds and drop it into the textures-actors-uniquehorses folder and all the whiterun horses would now be pink :) If I could add this to an mcm I would but I've never been able to work it out!

Heya sorry to you too for the late reply! It's something I plan on doing but finding the time with a full time job and house to to keep now has been against me! I want to come back to skyrim and polish up all my mods so I'll definately look into the console thing when I do!

I really likes this mod, I love Kritta's textures but not so much meshes so this is one very needed.

This mod 'just works' in Skyrim Special Edition with Convenient Horses SE mod but I had really bad fps drops and stutter with it enabled when I had battle near me (immersive patrols) so I dont recommend this for SSE yet.

Anyway, good work. I wish this could get converted to Skyrim SE one day.

Sorry this is such a late reply! I imagine the combination of the battle going on and adding higher res textures to the horses from this mod would definately cause some lag, especially if you've got mounted patrols. My computer definately wouldn't be happy lol This mod is only a mesh and texture replacer and should work with SSE out of the box. Sorry I can't be of more help, and I hope you got it sorted in the end!

Just the best horse mod I have ever found. Works perfectly with Skyrim special edition and convenient horse for SSE. Tks for your amazing job.

This is fine work. Keep at it and when the texture updates and other items on the list have been cleared, expect this in my load order. Tracking for now.

OMG I love it! Incredible job!
Now it feels as if the horses have a lot more charakter to them. Made me realize how boring it is just to ride the same old horse over and over with just different coat colours. Makes role playing as a traveler so much more fun!
Now I kinda never want to play Skyrim again without your new horses anymore...

Have you any plans to make them work with immersive horses? They seem to be incompatible since my horse always returs to the stable and doesnt listen too the whiste power anymore. Although Immersive horses still recognize the horse as your own...
I Tried to replace IH meshes and textures with yours but that only created a big mess... guess my modding skills a very low level

I'd really love to use both mods together. Any Ideas how to make them compatible?

Sry for my bad english not my native language

Aww thank you your english is good dont worry! Thats exactly why i made this mod, I wanted all the horses to stand apart from each other and have a bit more character so I'm glad somebody else sees it that way.

As for immersive horses compatability I've never been able to get them to work together and I'm not sure why. I'm not the most knowlegable modder in all honesty lol Changing my meshes out for the immersive horses meshes will stop my mod working as it is a model replacer and immersive horses will need its own models for all those things to work. I think anyway. I'm not sure how I can make a patch to fix this unfortunately If somebody ever does make a patch then I'd be happy to share a link to thier page here for people to use.

Sorry for the long time in replying, I haven't been playing recently but I've been popping on to check out the modding scene every now and then

This looks like a really cool mod! I love those textures! Could you maybe do a version where Frost and Shadowmere are unchanged? I use a different mod for them that I love, and I don't want to lose that

thank you, your mods should still work if you change your load order, put your shadowmere and frost mods after my unique horse and they'll overwrite it

Are you going to add Arvaak?

Heya, I doubt that I will add Arvak seeing as he's already set apart from the other horses. I wanted to make this mod because I thought all the horses were too similar to eachother and I wanted to give them a little personality, so seeing as Arvak already looks completely different I never thought about changing him.

If your looking for a good Arvak mod you should check out Arvak rewritten - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24019/? It adds alot of different options to change how arvak looks, I personally can't use him without it haha
