I finally made it to High Hrothgar; however the music starts and stops after a 10 seconds, and the Skyrim theme comes back; I never get the full song. Do you know what could be causing this?
It could be actually caused by the area itself. High Hrothgar has been divided into several music triggers/markers (I don't remember the exact number of triggers), placed on several spots uphill with different elevation, starting with the path from Ivarstead, up until the temple itself. I had to edit all of them several times to ensure I didn't leave any with default music on it, but I could have missed one or two - they're sometimes so close to other things on the map that they're virtually impossible to select. Probably should have used another editor to check them all out, but I didn't have that much time to spare, as I don't have now. I do remember that the amount of ambient/music/SFX triggers there was ridiculously large in close proximity to each other - this could be caused by you, deviating a bit to the edge of the mountain path and hitting another trigger from a different area of the map, which overlaps the path. That would involve manually resizing all those markers/triggers, risking sound/music loss in other areas close to that mountain.
This really gets my Croat\Serb\Ukranian\Bohemain blood boiling (an' if you think you got problems think about being me). Right now, I pitched camp where I can hear it constantly...gnawing raw meat off troll bones...waiting. Aw, there's that darn rabbit again - this time it's getting it!
I'll be sure to include any songs i come across and update the mod, however - it's not so easy to do so, since not every song would match a specific scene/setting in the way I want. Meaning that most of the traditional songs wouldn't fit Skyrim at all. The few that are out there have to be matched to a specific moment, so that the desired effect could be achieved. Bla bla bla, and so on - you get my point Most of them would just sound ridiculously out of place, and probably ruin the experience, rather than enhance it.
If you happen to know, could you please advise as to what the instrument is that is used at the very beginning of the song? The one that has a wailing, echoing sound to it?
Think I have heard it before on the old 1970s "Cosmos" soundtrack, for a Bulgarian shepherdess's song, and always liked it, but never knew what it was, tho it sounds bagpipe-like to me.
It's a Bulgarian bagpipe, yeah. They added some effects to it, like reverb, but no mistaking that sound anywhere I hear it It's made from lamb/sheep (maybe goat as well?) skin afaik. Also - I think the Scots(?) had similar bagpipes, only they sound a bit different than ours. Probably because they use different materials to build them.
I'm trying to work out something for the next music track I have planned, but the Skyrim scripting system is such a little b&@*$ to work with. It gives me headaches. Gosh darn you, Bethesda - changing the functions would have made sense if we didn't need Script Extenders again, but since SKSE was made, your puny efforts at making a better scripting environment yet again failed disastrously. Only making a headache for modders who are new to your crappy modifications to the scripting language.
