Always makes my day seeing a XIIa (or is it a XVIIa, fuller is a bit fuzzy) longsword with a simple cross and faceted pommel. Perfectly functional design, that.

I'm not sure what classification you could give it. I didn't model it after a particular real sword. The hilt I wanted a basic longsword/bastard sword hilt. The blade itself was whatever looks cool. Started as a box in 3DS Max then moved verts to get the length, edge taper and distal taper for a diamond shape crosscut view. Then I added a cylinder scaled it to the shape I wanted for the fuller with depth and width at the base then made it as long as the blade with a slightly less angle than the distal taper so it gets less wide and deep the closer to the point it gets. cloned that and mirrored it on the other side of the blade an used Boolean to remove that shape from the blade. cleaned up extra verts Booleans always create, UVW mapped and added texture then decided whether to keep it or not. As they say "it is what it is".

      According to this:

The blade would be more XIIa, the fuller runs about that distance down it with about the same taper. Hilt between a XVIIIb and XVIIIc

Very classic Hand-and-a-Half design. Well done.

Thanks, my favorite sword type. Simple, functional, and versatile. Can use like an arming sword with just a slight loss of maneuverability because of the extra hilt length but gain the advantages of a long swords 2 handed use. The lack of ornamentation means it is a fighting mans sword, no ornamentation means it is easier to oil and maintain unlike some prince who doesn't even know how to use a sword and has extravagant ornamentation and jewels.
