    Sticky
Now updated to ver 2.1 with outdoor bathtub with panorama view

After the release of ver 2.0, several players pointed out that it would be nice with some kind of bathing/sauna facility, preferably one where followers would undress/dress automatically when entering.

A pool or sauna felt too fancy for this humble starter abode, but I thought it would be nice with a humble cottage-version of a pool - i.e. a wooden bathtub for player with friends.  So, now you can have a warming bath outside the cottage, with magnificient panorama view. And your followers will undress/dress automatically.

It seems there is a conflict with Interesting NPCs Winterfrost cottage of which I was unaware. I did one of the quests and Highview Cottage was replaced with Winterfrost which is useless after completing the quest. Is there a way to get Highview back? The quest is the Gales of Guilt.

I was able to "restore" it. Probably because I hadn't purchased it yet. When I bought it from Katla, Winterfrost cottage was replaced by Highview. Not sure how it would have worked if I did the quest after the purchase...

I am ecstatic to have it back.

What an idiot I am...I just misread the map...

Please delete this post if you get the chance...

    Hello there...

I already use the Tailoring mod by Buckles from the Steam workshop. The author notes that "Any mod that changes or uses the 'Wood' or 'Studded' crafting categories may conflict with this"

So, before I install this mod, I would like to know if there is a compatibility issue with the tailoring in this mod?

    Thanks!

No, there shouldn't be a conflict.

      Thanks for responding, Emma.

After installing this mod, I noticed that one of the drawers contained two kinds of cloth! ( the Tailoring mod and yours ) Sadly, they didn't both work with the sewing kit. I think that this calls for another mod, 'My cloth is your cloth'.

I was surprised to see how close to the main road the cottage is. Usually, player home mods are in obscure locations that are a pain to get to.

The outdoor tub works well, once I figured out how to use it ( the player sits on the chair in the tub, then a follower comes over, undresses and gets in and sits down with the player ). If it's Vilja version 4.01, you can even get her to sit on your lap!

The special containers are very well done - they display exactly what they are intended to contain and look completely natural and appropriate.

Someone else here has wondered about the lack of a smelter and you said that there is one in Solitude - but I have yet to discover one there.

While my taste runs to the grandiose and monumental ( I am the Dragonborn who has saved the world and "the very souls' of all its inhabitants ( or so the Guards tell me )), I find your cottage has unique features that anyone can appreciate!

Thank you for your hard work and creativity!!

Bye the way, I have not yet found the words to express how much I appreciate Vilja. I will let you know when I have.

I'm quite surprised to hear that you found cloths from another mod in this cottage - as all containers are unique and set to non-respawn, I take it that the other cloths have been added to the levelled lists and therefore shows up. It's possible to make it compatible in various ways, I think the easiest would be to use some kind of "converter container". The easiest option would be to include this in the Tailoring mod, but it would also be doable in other mods, like this one.

The location of the cottage is the main reason why there isn't a good space for a smelter. Quite a lot happens at this road during the CW-quests, and there is no nearby place where I can place a smelter so that it doesn't conflict with markers that are related to the CW-quests. That's the practical reason why there is no smelter, but I am pretty sure there is one at the outdoor place where the smith is working (I haven't played Skyrim for a while, so I could be wrong). In Oblivion, where I have built up a crafting system for my house mods, I use a tiny outdoor forge and a melting pot for melting small items when there is no space for a larger smelter, but I think that would appear too unrealistic for the Skyrim audience.

I'm happy to hear that you enjoy the cottage, and that you enjoy Vilja's company as well

I was half joking about the "cloth problem". You are very kind to take the time to treat it seriously. I didn't really think that this sort of "inter mod" problem could possibly be solved.

Thanks for explaining why there is no smelter here. Believe it or not, there is no smelter in Solitude and only one in the entire Haafingar Hold ( inside a bandit cave of all places - that has to be really inconvenient for the blacksmith to get his ingots from! ). I have to think that it was an oversight that it is missing from Solitude itself ( or maybe there is some kind of anti-pollution law there! ) Hmm.. maybe that is the reason - Solitude seems to be the only city with storm sewers!

You may be underestimating the capacity of the Skyrim audience to accept a lack of realism. We can accept that a single anvil is just as functional as a full blacksmith forge and that we can have a smelter in the basement of our homes without being asphyxiated (i.e. Severin Manor), so why not a small smelter. Just dress it up with some "lore". For example, "based on the legendary orcish forgemaster's improved model whose secret for constructing it has only now been rediscovered" - possibly on one of Vilja's quests.

I am continuing to enjoy having Vilja around ( in spite of being already married ).

      Thanks again.

Emma, concerning the "smelter problem" at this location, I just noticed that Elianora's Tirashan mod uses a small forge and a mini smelter that seems to match your description of your Oblivion forge and smelter.

Perhaps you could consider adding the mini smelter from Tirashan ( it isn't clear from the Tirashan mod description whether this is Elianora's or from some modder's resource - perhaps you could contact her to find out )

      Thanks!

There is a mod that adds smelters to Riften and Solitude by maker of Complete Crafting Overhaul. In that mod the smelter is right behind Beirand as he uses the forge and the one in Riften is near the gate that leads to the docks opposite the wood chopping station.

Haven't even installed this yet, but I'm going to! The mod looks great, not too flashy, yet not too small. This is (almost) exactly what I've been looking for.
I say almost because I was hoping for one mannequin, that's it, just one. Am I allowed to put a mannequin in there myself with the CK or would I get in trouble for that? Otherwise this looks like a great mod. I'm looking forward to playing with this house for a while.

In your own game you can of course add, remove and alter this mod or any mod in any way you want .

I don't add mannequins in my mods, ever, because I truly hate them. In fact, I do the opposite to what you are doing - if I download a house mod that includes mannequins, I delete them before I even enter the house ingame. So, it's a matter of personal preferences. Hope you will like the house anyway, and that you find a spot that is suitable for a mannequin in there.

This is still the best player home imo. No mannequins and display cases everywhere. This is a home you live in, not a house masquerading as a museum to show off your pretties.

Seems we have the same opinion on mannequins . I always delete them upon sight, also in vanilla houses.

Glad that you like it - I have always preferedd "humble but useful" abodes like this, myself, rather than huge mansions.

Just installed this home and I already love it. Not too simple, not too flashy, perfect home for my Solitude based alchemist char. I especially love the unique storage containers. Great job

Oh this is so lovely, Emma! The home is beautifully decorated with storage just in the right places. Cozy but not cramped. And I absolutely love the clothing crafting. I truly love this home. Thank you.

Very nice home. Good location. The clothes making mechanic is wonderful, especially for an immersive playthrough. I think you should mention it in the mod title.

Great mod, but it won't let me buy the house. It just hangs on the dialog but does nothing (I have the 5k). Is there a way to get the key without buying it?

It sounds as if the scripts folder wasn't properly installed. How did you install, manually or with some of the various mod managers?
