Super idea! One question though. I am using Legacy of the dragonborn and some shops have things added to them (Like Skyrim unique treasure and badgremlins collection mods) Have you moved original shelves around much?
I haven't actually moved the original furniture around much. I replaced a couple of dressers with actual shelves so I would have a third row. For new shelves I removed the junk (barrels and creates) from corners. Like I added two shelves under the staircase in the Riverwood Trader. So I figure everything should be in the same spaces. However I do have the shelves packed so if you have a Legacy item and one of mine trying to spawn in the same place I have no idea what would happen. I can never remember if having something in the load order before or after takes precedence so if mine conflicts you can try putting before or after the others a see if that makes a difference. I would say try it and see. Let me know what happens I am curious.
Yes all items belong to the shop owners so it would count as stealing if you take them. Some items in the Riverwood Trade are not listed as stealing after the golden claw quest due to post quest friendship. I have not altered the vendor inventories so they are not seeing anything they are not normally selling.
Ok for this next update I did Sadri's Used Wears and The White Phial. I really didn't do that much on the white phial other than clear the shelves and add potions. Lots of potions and I didn't want anything helpful so mostly damage/poisons. Mainly because Nurelion is so old and grouchy just seems like he would rather cause damage than cure it. Also as people said I kept things straight and in order cause I also feel Nurelion would be a bit OCD.
Sadri's is just full of Solstheim stuff. And it makes sense when you think about it because the boats go from Windhelm to Solstheim and back again. Easy supply line. I did change Sadri's outfit to a Dark Elf outfit. Just because. Took longer than I wanted because a chunk of wall disappeared and I had to rebuild it. And I suck bad with walls.
"Mainly because Nurelion is so old and grouchy just seems like he would rather cause damage than cure it."
But Nurelion is deathly ill and he and his apprentice argue about taking his tonic in the scene that plays when you first enter the shop. Wouldn't he'd be more likely to have curing and restoring potions from his experiments trying to find something to help himself?
This looks like a great idea. I to hated going into a shop only seeing junk every where with say a few items of value (not just as in money but use to) mixed in. Also my clepto thief characters (like all my chars ever) are going to love you for this to lol. Will be actually worth breaking into to some of these places now and lifting everything in site haha XD
Tracking this, seems like a cool idea. I do have one suggestion though: don't make everything so neat and orderly, try to add a little disorganization here and there to make things feel a little more natural.
And perhaps have the ingredients (looking at that image of the alchemy shop) in bowls or barrels instead of on shelves one-by-one. That would make more sense to me (though there would obviously be great potential for breaking in and stealing all that loaded stuff).
Looking around Belathors new shop and hearing a muffled sound coming from a locked trunk. His sister. He always claimed to being an only sibling but we find out he actually is selling her.
Smart idea overall, but the comments are spot on. It needs to be a little less rigid, but not totally chaotic. Smaller items piled in baskets or bowls or other containers is good. Less "perfect" positioning of items on shelves is good. You want a natural look!
Well I have things a lot less rigid in my next area. Working on Sadris Used Wares which actually ended up being Solstheim in Windhelm lol. I get what yall are saying it really does look better this way. Except for the booze. You keep your booze sorted and straighten out. As far as putting things in pots and bowls I am trying. Positioning ingredients is really hard and I won't put single items in a bowel but I got 3 ash yams in a bowl which turned out pretty good. I am about to test it and if it's stable I'm done. Your main problems come from falling or exploding items. Don't have it stuck to the wall just right it falls and if you place to many things in a bowl they fly everywhere. Tomorrow I'll start on The White Phial. I know I said I'd do an entire town but thats a bit unrealistic. If it's taking this long in Windhelm that only has two shops I can only imagine Riften and Solitude. But since it does only have two shops I will finish.
Hello. I was testing the mod out. No issues. Belathors shop looks really good. Thanks for creating this. looking forward to seeing it evolve into a true GEM.
Be OCD with a few shops like Riverwood Trader - I bet Lucan Valerius has massive OCD. It'll fit in with some of the shops like The White Phial, Nurelion must be OCD as well.
In the old world, (and bits of England) most of the the valuable stuff was either behind, or under, the counter. There were often barels full of stuff, and things mounted to walls, ( I know an old electroncs shop like that) but rarely was it on shelves so you could just browse, and fondle the mechandise. You want to see what the old West looked like, go watch Pale Rider. It's a great film, but it also has a great general store
I love this idea. Why should a thief break into a shop when there is so little of interest to steal. As for too neat. Since you are going shop by shop. Town by town. You could vary the disorder based up the perceived personality of each shop owner.

and the items can be steal? I like if it can`t, to force the player to buy
I like the screen shoot of the items
