This mod makes Vigilance essential. If you find otherwise, you have a conflict and should use the setessential command to make him essential for your game.

    FAQ

Q: Why are the texture/armor combos different than in Meeko Reborn?
A: To give some variety for people who want to use both dogs at once. If you would prefer a different combination, please refer to the questions below.

    Q: No Ebony version?
A: The Ebony version of Meeko was giving some people trouble so I've left it out here. If you didn't experience issues, you can grab the mesh from the Meeko version and replace the BP2/Vigilance/Vigilance.nif

Q: Vigilance won't talk to me?
A: This is likely the vanilla dialogue bug. Save & reload or look up other solutions. If these don't work, you likely have a conflict.

Q: I like ___ version of Vigilance, but not the color!
A: You can download the version with the mesh you want and then overwrite the Vigilance.dds (or hound.dds) file with the texture you want to use. I recommend KrittaKitty's True Wolves of Skyrim (or Grace Darkling's Texture Packs - Animals if using the Hound version) for best results.

Q: How can I use both Meeko and Vigilance together?
A: You can use any multiple follower mod.

    Howdy!

I like the idea of Vigilance, Markarth dog, with a mechanical leg. Thing is, whenever I install this mod I get a warning that looks like this:

I'm not sure how to react. Any suggestions?

    Stay safe!

It's just a warning about the readme, you can ignore it.

I love meeko and now vigilance will look as good as him. But I have a question is it possible to mirror the dwemer version? So he and meeko have different missing legs?
I would do it myself if I knew how

You can edit the mesh in nifskope. You'll need the original dwemer dog mesh that I've listed in the file credits. It's a pretty quick process.

      they are for different dogs.
Meeko reborn changes the Dog meeko and the other the dog vigilance.
Meeko is found in Meeko's Shack in Hjaalmarch
and Vigilance around the Markarth stables, he needs to be purchased

I hadn't read here about the issues people were having with the ebony armor mesh for Meeko Reborn, and I used it to replace the Vigilance Reborn one, and I was getting nonstop CTDs around the entrance to Markarth and couldn't figure it out for the life of me. But I read here about the ebony armor mesh issues, and tried using a different one, and no more CTDs. I'm bummed. The ebony armor mesh looked really good.

I've been trying to add this mod for hours now, but Mod Organizer won't install it properly. I once got the FOMOD to work by deleting all of the meshes and textures except for Stark and trying to rearrange the folder structure, but was met with a vanilla Vigilance. Any other attempt and I was met with an invisible Vigilance

Hello BluePianoTwo, I'm having trouble trying to use alternate textures on Dawn Vigilance. I'm trying to use the pale brown - blue eyes from PlagueHush's "Husky 2k Variants - An Automatic Variants Package", and while it works, he only has one eye! What am I doing wrong?

The husky mesh and the wolf mesh used here are different and it's possible that the textures don't align correctly.

You can, but know that the changes would apply to every dog in skyrim

Strangely enough, when I replace Armored Vigilance with the black wolf texture, one of his eyes whites out. Not really a bug for me - I really enjoy the battle-ridden war dog look!

How exactly did you manage this? Obviously it was a fluke, but what did you do?

      I'd really like this.

All I did was make a copy of Krittakitty's black wolf dds file and renamed it to Vigilance.dds, drop that into the folder (armored Vigilance) and it replaces the old Vigilance texture. Like I said, no idea why it made his eye wonky since it's the same texture used for the True Wolves mod.

I had this and vigilance just... Dissapeared? While I was fighting enemies. No amount of travelling and such fixed it. Could it be that I had serena for the DG dlc?
