Here's my suggestions for you. 1. Sleeping Giant Inn is the most cliche place to put a follower and is seen as a nooby place to put things. 2. The same goes for Daedric armour, not to mention that it's also rather over powered for a follower you can get at level 1 3. As Miss Shao Huan said, you need to put some information about the follower in the description. What is their combat style? What race are they (if it's not clear)? What voice type do they use (some voice types don't have the required dialogue lines in vanilla)? What perks do they have? What spells do they have? You also need to describe any custom things in the mod. If the character wears a custom armour set: Can the player use it? How does it compare to other armours? Is it light or heavy? If the character has a custom spell(s): What does the spell do? What school is it in? You might even want to say how much it costs to cast. 4. Simple mods such as these don't get many downloads, if any. From what I've seen, your best bet is to either make a really elaborate follower with custom voicing, quests, etc. or to make many followers in a single file. 5. You need to say whether you can marry the character and whether the character can become a steward. For marriage they need to be in the PotentialMarriageFaction and for steward they need to have appropriate dialogue lines which you can only really find out through testing in game. There's a lot there but I hope this helps
EDIT: You also might want to make sure there aren't any bugs in your screenshots. NPCs shouldn't be holding weapons like that.
I think this covers all I would say.I applaud the creator for their first step into modding and would hope they are not discouraged.
I will add, simply, the other fact that Male followers are low popularity no matter how well done they are.Tis just a gaming fact of life.
Even for a Female, Skyrim males are simply unattractive and not enough has been done to improve the Vanilla males, along with male armors, as compared to Female. (my opinion)
As far as placement goes, I maintain a mod (Aetia, from Steam) in my load order that I haven't used as follower since Arissa and Sofia's arrival. Why? Because she lounges in front of Riverwood trading and does sterling service defending the town from vamps and Dragons on her own, and I can temporary invite her to make sure she has the weapons to do it. You might consider that kind of placement as well.
I never really noticed that but you have a good point. I never really see a highly detailed male follower mod, especially not a human or an elf. Could that just be because nobody really makes detailed male follower mods though? I could list a load of females but only one male.
Also I'm kinda disappointed that I never thought of that kind of placement. I could've done with that thinking a year or two ago when I made my own follower mod. Was aiming to do a load of different followers in one mod but kept putting them in inns and ran out xD
Is he a smooth talking ghoul? A time-traveling scotsman? A warrior of High Rock with a below or above average intelligence? Does he see the dragonborn as a friend, competitor, or possible lover? Does he remember to take a towel with him on adventures?
Usually follower mods have more information in the description, fyi. The follower's perks, combat style, voice type (if any) etc so you might want to put that in the description so people know what they're downloading.
