Rather than enjoy the nice texture work, lots of you would rather nitpick the use of medieval... sad. I'm curious myself how much area it covers compared to a normal shield.
@weirdestkidyoullevermeet hardly any shield was full metal besides small bucklers.. and @Velocity724 this is a mod comment section not a history lesson... comment on the mod not on historical facts... now for my comment, maybe the emblem will fit better on a traditional kite shield
@Veloctiy724 to be fair, Spartan and Rome -era shields were exactly what SyberSmoke was saying. A Spartan shield was a stacked bowl of what was essentially and ancient version of plywood covered with bronze, which I think is what wierdestkid was trying to point out. While Rome was in its glory richer, it's shields were almost entirely wood with only a metal boss in the center. However, this is also true for most European medieval era footsoldier's shields - crude wooden planks as most foots soldiers were poor levies. However, full metal shields did exist in the form of bucklers; but that's about it.
Onto the actual mod, it's fairly well done does exactly what it says it does; Nice job.
@wierdestkidyoullevermeet Uh, "wierdestkidyoullevermeet" go do 9th grade World History. You'll learn that Spartans existed in a different place far before the Medieval Ages.
During the time period that Spartans fought like they did, Rome was prosperous and striving with wealth. Rome's power fell due to corrupt government, inflamation, and laziness (they stopped conquering. Conquering = wealth. Wealth = survival). Thus the world plunged into a time of ignorance, chaos, poverty, and violence because classical knowledge had been whiped away from European culture (though moved on to the Islamic world and cathedral monk's teachings) -- the Medieval ages, the Dark Age (which ever you want to call it) which lasted from 500BCE to 1500BCE. Then the world began to enter the Renaissance. That's why SyberSmoke's comment is correct. They were to poor to affored what the Romans could during the medieval time period.
Classical in historical terms means Roman and Greek culture. Not classical as in Mozart or Beetoven.
Problem with this. Medieval shields were never solid metal. They were a wood base, some times plywood, with metal cladding over them for added durability. Metal was far to expensive and heavy to have a shield of that size made entirely out of it.
aweosme retexture really, haha i would love to see a daedric retexture done this way, tho i am not a glow fan, but that is just my taste, downloading as of now
