Instead of quarry stone to Lesser Soul Gem, why not a soul gem based on ore value?
For example: Iron = petty Corundum = lesser Moonstone = common Silver = greater Gold = grand Ebony = black

I really like this idea, if the mod author could also tie it into the alteration perk tree then it would definitely make alteration more worth perk points.

few years late but i think i'd like to see this idea:
transmute 2 of a lesser quality empty soul gem into one of greater size... so 2 petty = 1 lesser, 2 lesser = 1 common, 2 common = 1 greater and 2 greater = 1 grand. i'd say going from grand to black should use a grand and a human heart (alternatives could also be human flesh, daedra heart, or blood potions.. something that works to corrupt the grand soul gem into a black one)
I have a modrequest, I want a spell that transmutes stuff you can find in dungeons or worthless stuff you find in chests or barrels like linnen wraps, wooden plates, or tankards, etc. to food and drinks, could you make something like that?
