Keeper Carcette did not die by Vampires as is commonly believed. I killed her and the rest of the Hall of the Vigilants myself as a werewolf right before triggering Dawnguard, that way it would appear as though Vampires did it.
Seriously though, they were going to die anyways so I had to deprive them of their lives and their sellable items.
So you see, she can't possibly still be alive as a Vampire after I killed her and ate her heart.
Interesting twist! It would have been cool if something like this happened in Vanilla. They could have made an interesting side quest with Carcette during the Dawnguard... perhaps with two different endings (i.e., you choose to help her cure herself or she decides to remain a vampire).
Originally I had wanted to make a quest where you could find her somewhere near the ruins of the Hall of the Vigilant. You would get to cure her, call her a horrible abomination (Causing her to go run off and die somewhere), convince her to stay a vampire and that she still had a purpose, or convince her to embrace her new gifts and renounce Stendarr. Though unfortunately I'm not very skilled when it comes to quests and scripts.

I wonder if it is possible to cure her vampirism if we allied with the Vampire Hunters?
