Hello all! Great news! The playable centaur race is advancing with great bounds. We have created a custom Havok project, so now they use their own skeleton HKX and have their own animations. So far I've only made a few animations, but they play all the vanilla animations I assigned to them as well as the custom ones. So, we are that much closer!
So I'm trying to use this mod, but I noticed that the camera is at ground level in 3rd person for some reason; I can hardly see my character. I thought this could be corrected by moving the Camera3rd node in NifSkope, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Is this something that normally happens with this mod? I'm not an expert on NifSkope so maybe I'm trying to move the node incorrectly somehow. I opened CentaurSkeleton.nif in NifSkope, right-clicked "Camera3rd [Cam3] [165] in NifSkope and gave it the desired position but noticed no difference in the camera position in-game.
That was my original intent. But I could never get over the last hurtle(getting the back legs to animate properly they kept distorting). I think if I could have figured out 3ds max 12 I might have been able to edit the animations to include the back leg - but 3ds max doesn't seem intuitive like blender, also, by the time I was able to get good working version of 3ds max, I'd become burnt out on the centaurs. That is why I've released this mod with all my failed(and yes the one successful) centaurs in it. I did make a centaur that had a static back end, but I seem to have lost that one so didn't include it with this mod. If you don't mind a few animation issues(some potentially will crash the game) and don't mind that the back end distorts, you can actually play as a centaur with the jbcentaur.esp. I hope that explains everything.
I have broken through the obstacles and am on my way to making a playable centaur race, as mentioned in other posts. We will be releasing an alpha version of the mod, hopefully, by the end of this month.
which of the ESP's are you loading. One is not a playable race the other is. Though, I am currently working on a better version than either of these. But who knows when I'll be able to even consider the test is good enough to share.
Actually, I have some really good news. I have learned how to write the skeleton file needed to animate custom skeletons in game. Once we have our feet under us for the mermaid mod l will start working on the playable centaur race. It will still be a little bit before I can get to work on it.
Well, that was my hope. I managed to get a half functioning(the back end kept distorting) player version, but I could never seem to get it to work. Maybe in the future.

Shame about the midriff as it looks all wrong but not a million miles away.

We now just need more animators to help us speed up the process. If any animators are interested, please contact us.
Here is the properly anymated centaur, I guess:
