Okay, released v1.0.1 to fix the framerate/savegame bug some of you reported. Thanks for your help in reproducing and tracking down this one. If you have a saved game that was already affected by this (you'll know, because your framerate will be crap and the save will be enormous), delete it and load up a game from before it happened.
Please let me know if you see any recurrences of this one! Thanks!
I am having this problem (terrible lag and insane save bloat) and I am using v1.0.1.
I used an "armory/display room" in a custom player house for my stashes so they would all be in one place. Used 5 or 6 containers, stored around 500 items total. Many were tempered/enchanted. Started doing other stuff until I got the stuttering/lag, saved the game(took forever) and quit to desktop. That save file is 300mb. When I looked at it with Save Scripts Cleaner, I saw it had almost 3000 active scripts in it, which explains the lag.
After reading about this problem, I tried an experiment. Started a new character, the game ran perfectly smooth, no lag or stuttering at all. The SkyBox MCM config did not list any of the containers I had made with my other character. The game continued to run smoothly until I entered the cell where the stashes should have been. At that point it began to lag more and more until it became unplayable, but I was able to confirm that the containers did not have the stashed items in them.
I'm no programmer, but it seems to me this is somehow related to the way SkyBox generates the items inside stashes? What do you need from me to help you track this down? I'd love to get this mod working, it's a great idea!
I am also eager for an SSE version, now that jcontainers is availible <3 Edit: well this didn't go where I meant it to at all, and I'm not sure how to delete it. Sorry.
Is there any other alternative yet? I just realized that some mod was imposing a "punishment" for getting killed - it deletes random items from your inventory if you allow the game to continue and load you up from your last save, instead of loading a previous save manually. I played for several days before figuring it out and don't want to re-do all of that, but do want to get my items back. This sounded good, but the comments here indicate it's fatally bugged.
The competing mod, Metachest, is also broken, but in a different way – it only works if a) you have a short load order, and b) you do not change it.
I really want a port of this mod into SSE, it was one of my favorite mods to bring over roleplaying items between characters. If you ever do decide to port the mod please let me know.
So I just found out the hard way, after 87 levels, that the container I've been keeping all my stuff in this whole time wasn't actually safe storage (yes, really). I have no idea how I managed to inadvertently stave off the respawn timer for so long in retrospect, but regardless, was greeted today by a substantially leaner-than-usual item stash. Luckily, I still had one single save left from before the cell respawned, and was able to use this mod to successfully and easily recover all my items. While I can't vouch for (or against) continued usage based on my experience, this mod was fantastic for this specific purpose. It took me maybe thirty seconds to set up the stash, load into the newer save (having cleared the remaining items in the container beforehand with removeallitems), open the container, and deactivate the stash again, which is about as painless as you could hope a process like this to be. My save file did not increase substantially in size, nor did ReSaver report anything unexpected after uninstalling (just the sort of things you'd expect from removing a typical mod with scripts). Overall, this mod worked flawlessly for my specific use-case, despite the concerns I had from reading some of the other comments.
The mod only works for certain items : ingredients, soul gems... but I want it to work with a particular enchanted unique shield, from the mod Immersive Amors. Didn't work at all.
I launched the game, loaded my save, my character was holding a bow, I went to spells menu, equiped the "SkyBox: Create Stash" spell, but my character was still holding bow, no spell was equiped. Also, there was arrow symbol that shows at equiped spells and items, but it wasn't showing to which hand it was equiped. I unequiped everything, equiped the spell again, but the spell didn't activated, my character had closed fists and he was doing unarmed combat.
Do I have to start a new character to make it work?
if only people read instructions, if only... you use the spell on a stash (Barrel, Chest, etc), put what you want to share in the stash, then save, reload a save with another character and take what's in the stash, done. Also you need this other mod installed in order to make this one work.
I have read the instructions and I have that other mod. But I didn't figured out how to use spell. I tried to use the spell on a chest in the inn in Riverwood, but nothing happened.
Edit: Sorry, I figured it out. I am an idiot. I didn't noticed that it's a power (like, for example, "Voice of the Emperor"), I throught that it's a spell that I am supposed to equip in hand (like, for example, "Fireball"), so I tried to equip it in hand and use it through attack/ cast spell button, when I was supposed to equip it and use it through shout/use power button.
Literally won't work with Skyrim Special Edition. Tried everything possible but it just won't run. Game refuses to launch with Nexus Mod manager/Skyrim Script Extender inside NMM
i can tryed to add 1 item (random ingot ) and it worked fine but when i add my hole inv frome one car and i save and load the other savegame my game crashes everytime

After I deleted the .json files in config the save bloating stopped.
Edit: eventually I end up with saves over 100mb even with the new version
