Is anybody else getting this error message when running VF for AE now? Exception in unit line -1: [EJvInterpreterError] Error in unit 'vf_utils' on line 23 : Expression expected but 'then' found
So, if you used the method that Pragasette suggested, and it didnt work for you - here is what I recommend. Open VFPatcher.tes5pas with Notepad and and copy all the text. Then open SSEEdit -> ApplyScript -> new script -> paste what you copied from VFPatcher.tes5pas Then save this file. You should see the result immediately. You can use this file with any of two methods Pragasette suggested. 100% it should work if you did everything correctly.
You can run the patcher on Special Edition without converting the output ESP from form 43, choose one method below, both confirmed working here with Mod Organizer 2.2.0 and SSEEdit 4.0.2.
(A) To run it via batch file
Rename VFPatcher.tes5pas to VFPatcher.pas, so that SSEEdit will not be started in TES5 mode.
FYI you may need to add quotation marks to the C:\Path\to\SSEEdit\SSEEdit.exe like so: "C:\Path\to\SSEEdit\SSEEdit.exe". The bat file didn't run for me without the quotation marks.
I only tested using method A, and it worked for me on SSE. Just be sure to follow along with Volatile Followers installation steps, the process is surprisingly easy.
NMM instructions translate well to Vortex.
Edit: Volatile Followers' install instructions say to use the patcher before a merged patch, but the VF patch still works on zMerges from zEdit. The reason this might be important is that you can't run the VF patcher and then merge the items that the VF patch registered (you will get a missing master error in Vortex).
Tldr; If you need to merge items before the VF patch it should be okay (only tested with zMerge option from zEdit in Vortex).
Didn't work for me, I tried both methods. Very carefully. The process runs, there is a list of followers being "mortalized". Though it only lasts 19 seconds. Much shorter than in Oldrim. Most importantly, no ESP patching file is generated at the end. When I close the window, the MO2 overwrite window is empty.
Does anyone know what conditions must exist before the volatile followers script scans a plugin? The reason I ask is that the script skips the Bikini Maidens mod when scanning through my load order. As a result, the followers included in Bikini Maiden stay immortal. I know that each follower in the Bikini Maiden mod is the subject of a small "quest" in that the player must fulfill some conditions in order to recruit the follower. Maybe being the object of a quest flags the follower in such a way that the Volatile Followers script is set to skip/
I tried opening up xedit and manually removing the "essential" flag from the Bikini Maiden followers, but they were still immortal.
so im trying to kill lydia in my game... i have a save where she is not my follower, i run the patcher through vortex as a tool and it loads my mods and mortalizes everyone. Then I load my game. I tell Lydia to follow me, then when I try to kill her she goes only to a knee... what could I possibly be doing wrong. I am following the instructions. The patch gets created, vortex enables it. What else can I do? :( looking forward to that 2.0 version, just want to get this working.

mod doesnt work for me
(A) To run it via batch file
Note: paths must be updated to match your setup.
(B) To manually apply the script in SSEEdit
Edit: added quotation marks as suggested by syclonix.

Hopefully, people still visit this board......
Thanks, updating the instructions
