Garnet isn't red, it's orange. In Skyrim, the garnet looks a bit more red than it should, but you would've been better off just recolouring the garnet. I still want this mod though, because I don't like garnet either.
My problems stem from the fact that Skyrim has 2 red gems, and one of them crafts into an orange gem, not with geologic science behind gems.
Garnet like most gems can come in an entire rainbow of colours. The primary colour used in western cultures shows Garnet as red, and that is how it is used for the birthstone. In the game the actual garnet is red I will not yield on that argument, which makes the orange gemmed jewelry look dumb when it requires these obviously still red stones as found in Skyrim.
It was so annoying I decided to eliminate garnet all together because I was tired of this. lol.
I was about to say somethin, but then large mods aren't for everyone, I know a few people who are reluctant to even go so far as to get the Unofficial Patches.
Nice little addition, but to be fair to the other gems... they all can be different colors than what designers and Disney have imprinted on our brains over the years. Green Sapphires, yellow Emeralds, etc. So this kind of voids the whole project. Topaz, especially, can be nearly all the colors of the spectrum.

But the two red gems thing bothers me, so I'm up for a topaz replacer.
